Chapter 13: Yan Youhuan's Dominance

"It's my turn! Field Spell Card, [Desert Storm]!"

In the council hall, Yan Yun was the first to make his move. As the card was placed on the duel disk, the scene in the hall instantly changed.

As the name implies, a Field Spell Card can change the surrounding environment and terrain once activated. Similar to Continuous Spell Cards, it stays on the field as long as it isn't destroyed.

In an instant, strong winds howled between the two duelists, and sand and stones flew everywhere. The visibility for the elders watching from outside the duel area drastically decreased; all they could see was yellow sand and swirling dust.

If this were a psychic duel, both their clothes would probably be covered in sand by now.

"The Field Spell Card [Desert Storm] boosts the attack power of all Wind-attribute monsters on the field. It seems the captain of the guards uses Wind-attribute monster cards!"

Yan Youhuan observed the changing scene, recalling what he knew. "In the area around Diya Town, only the [Rocky Valley] monster zone has Wind-attribute monsters. Yan Yun is a 3-star duelist, and there aren't any powerful 3-star monsters in that zone!"

He was a bit curious about Yan Yun's next move.

"Spell Card [Brute's Call], activate! According to its effect, I special summon [One-Eyed Silver Tiger] from the deck in attack position!"

Another Spell Card was played from Yan Yun's hand, and a blue circular light screen appeared on his field.

Within the light screen, a white-skinned tiger with black stripes could be faintly seen, majestic and strong. One of its eyes had a scar, making it look even more fierce and intimidating.

The increase in attack power was due to the special effect of [Desert Storm], which boosted it by 500 points. However, its defense power decreased by 400 points as a trade-off.

"I summon a second [One-Eyed Silver Tiger] in attack position from my hand, then set a card and end my turn!"

An identical monster appeared on Yan Yun's field, accompanied by a set card's shadow.

Yan Yun had one card left in his hand and ended his turn.

"Yan Yun is using that tactic, right?" In the elders' seats, the financial elder slightly turned his head and whispered to the guard elder beside him.

"The Spell Card that can be activated when there are three identical monsters on the field!" The guard elder whispered back proudly. "It's the regular Spell Card called [Triangular Assault], combined with a power-boosting effect, it can instantly crush the enemy!"

The Spell Card [Triangular Assault] allows three identical monsters on the field to directly attack the duelist!

The guard elder looked at Yan Youhuan in the center, not hiding the malice in his eyes. "Yan Yun now has two monsters with 1800 attack points each. Even I couldn't handle that without any preparation!"

Generally, it's rare for level 4 monsters to have an attack power over 2000, and for level 3 monsters to have an attack power over 1800.

Of course, this is speaking of single card power without considering support from Spell and Trap Cards.

That's why the guard elder was so confident, daring to challenge Yan Youhuan to this duel.

To him, Yan Youhuan was powerless in Diya Town, and had only recently become a 4-star psychic duelist through sheer luck, surely without any updated cards! Using only 3-star cards, it was impossible to defeat Yan Yun, who had been honing his skills in the 3-star realm for years.

"My turn, draw!" It was Yan Youhuan's turn. He drew his card, his gaze fixed on Yan Yun's set card.

For Yan Youhuan, the 1800 attack point [One-Eyed Silver Tigers] were not a concern; he was more wary of that set card.

Cards set on the field can be used during the opponent's turn.

"I summon [Charging Captain] in attack position, and with its effect, I special summon [War Cry Fighter: Wento] in attack position from my hand! Then I special summon [War Cry Fighter: Gatos]!"

A weathered warrior, holding dual swords and clad in green armor, appeared on Yan Youhuan's field.

This warrior was a well-known Warrior-type monster in Diya Town, a staple for any 3-star Earth-attribute psychic duelist.

However, the other two monsters caused a stir among the watching elders.

Both were humanoid monsters, one male and one female. The male had a peculiar hairstyle, wore a necklace of beast fangs around his neck, and his muscular body was almost naked.

He held stone clubs in each hand, causing the sand and dust to swirl on Yan Youhuan's field.

Beside him was a green-haired girl in a white dress, holding a green bamboo longbow, with a quiver full of arrows at her waist.

[War Cry Fighter: Gatos] can be special summoned from the hand if there are Earth-attribute Warrior-type monsters on the field!

This was the new power Yan Youhuan obtained from [56] of the [Dream Garden].

In the central park of Diya Town that afternoon, he had secretly picked up some primary materials for the [War Cry Fighters] amidst the chaos, and successfully created the cards that night.

"No wonder he's the youngest elder candidate. He summoned three monsters in one go!"

"And the two he summoned afterward have high attack power, probably 4-star cards!"

"[War Cry Fighters]? I've never heard of these cards before. Did Elder Youhuan develop them himself?"

The other elder candidates murmured among themselves. These were powerful cards they had never heard of or owned, making them sigh at the new generation's prowess.

At the long table, the guard elder's face turned ashen, his eyes filled with disbelief.

"How is this possible?! He just advanced to 4-star, how can he have 4-star strength!"

Seeing this, he almost believed his own made-up story that Yan Youhuan had been recruited by another family.

"Continuous Spell Card [Banner of Courage], activate!" On the duel field, Yan Youhuan continued his play. "Then I'll enter the battle phase!"

A red and white battle flag was planted on Yan Youhuan's field, fluttering in the wind and sand, as the warrior holding the dual clubs charged towards Yan Yun's field.

"[War Cry Fighter: Gatos], attack [One-Eyed Silver Tiger]!"

"Mountain-Splitting Smash!"

Yan Youhuan pointed at Yan Yun and loudly shouted the name of the attack move!
