A Day Trip

The car hummed steadily as it sped along the quiet road, the forested scenery blurring into shades of green and brown under the late morning sun. Inside the vehicle, an unusual silence hung between Davian and Roseanne. She glanced out of the window, her fingers nervously playing with the hem of her blouse. The rhythmic motion of the trees outside did little to calm her racing thoughts.

Finally, Roseanne broke the silence. "Um, why are we going alone this time?" She glanced at Davian, who had his hands resting firmly on the steering wheel. His expression remained calm, but there was a flicker of amusement in his eyes as he glanced at her briefly.

"Why?" Davian asked, his tone light but teasing. "Do you not like being alone with me?"

Roseanne's cheeks immediately flushed a deep shade of pink. "N-No! That's not what I meant," she stammered, waving her hands in front of her as if to erase the misunderstanding. "I just… I was curious, that's all."
