Chapter 5 Departure

Gray slept for seven whole days, and it was only when the sunlight of the seventh day shone into the bedroom that he opened his eyes. The first thing he did upon waking was to rush out of the bedroom, searching the entire house for his mother. When he saw her in the study, Gray immediately ran up to her, exclaiming, "Mom, guess what I got in the temple of the Moon Goddess?"

Eliya turned around, gently touching Aiden Gray's head, and asked, "Let Mom guess. My Gray has always wanted to become a mage, so you must have obtained 'Elemental Affinity', right?"

Gray suddenly froze, for the woman who turned around was one he had never seen. However, he had his own way of recognizing her. He sniffed deeply, inhaling the unbelievably familiar and亲切 scent, and then hesitantly asked, "Are you... Mom?"

"My Gray, this is how Mom truly looks. Does Mom look good?" Eliya asked with a smile.

Gray nodded vigorously, saying, "Mom is the most beautiful!" In his heart, his mother was originally the most beautiful woman. Moreover, now that Eliya had regained her original appearance? The beauty of the Silver Moon Elves was just as renowned as their divine magic.

A boy's patience is always limited, and a teenager's patience doesn't increase much. Therefore, Aiden Gray didn't wait for Eliya to guess twice before eagerly saying, "Mom, I obtained Wisdom and Truth!"

"Truth?" Eliya was surprised. She knew about Wisdom but had never heard that Enlightenment could grant the ability of Truth.

Gray frowned, using his newly acquired and enhanced Wisdom to explain, "Truth is... um, the ability to understand the world more clearly. It seems like it can be enhanced. Its current use is not significant; it just allows me to see farther and hear more clearly."

Eliya hummed, holding Gray's shoulder and carefully him to cherish the abilities he obtained from Enlightenment and also remember the teachings she had given him. Her was so detailed that it became somewhat tedious, taking over an hour to finish, and she repeated many things, making Gray secretly make faces in protest. Gray was originally very intelligent, with exceptional memory, and his Wisdom had been enhanced. There was no need to repeat anything twice.

Eliya finally realized that she had been too tedious, so she smiled and asked, "My Gray, do you want to see your father?"

Gray frowned hard, trying to think, but he couldn't come up with an answer. Before he could figure it out, Eliya said, "You'll see your father soon. The people he sent should be arriving shortly, and they'll take you to him. You must behave obediently on the way, remember?"

"Ah?" This was very unexpected news, and Gray didn't know how to react. He just nodded vaguely, and then remembered something, asking, "Then Mom, are you going too?"

"No, Mom isn't going."

"Then I'm not going either!" Gray said resolutely.

Eliya smiled and said, "My Gray has to go, because Mom has a wish that she needs your help to fulfill!"

Gray straightened his chest and said, "Mom, don't worry! I've grown up, and I'll definitely do it! Oh, what is the wish?"

Eliya looked deeply at Gray and slowly said, "If, in the future, my Gray becomes a truly great person, then bury Mom in your father's family cemetery, in the highest layer!"

Gray nodded vigorously. At this moment, he didn't understand the true meaning behind this wish and the difficulty of fulfilling it. But even if he knew, he wouldn't retreat. Boys from the mountains never lack courage.

The morning in the village of Luselan was usually peaceful and serene, but the tranquility of this morning was disrupted. First, the entire village began to shake inexplicably, and then the shaking turned into violent trembling. Even the slowest elder felt something was wrong and walked out of his house, gazing towards the end of the road outside the village.

The wind in the mountains still carried a chill, and when it blew past, even the bravest and strongest hunters couldn't help but shiver. They didn't feel that the temperature was low; it was an irresistible chill emanating from the bottom of their hearts, as if some irresistible disaster was about to occur. The earth was still shaking, and all the people in Luselan village walked out of their homes, silently standing on the open space at the entrance of the village. From here, they could already see the dust rising in the distance. In the forest, ancient trees kept crashing down with a roar, and the birds had already flown high, not even daring to linger in their nests, directly flying towards the deep mountains.

A heavily armored knight like a demon rushed out of the forest!

The deep black full armor had over ten steel spikes standing upright, and the chest was carved with a fierce and terrifying devil's head. The warhorse under him was extremely powerful, even half a meter taller than the wild horse kings the villagers had seen, covered with thick horse armor. The protruding sharp steel spikes indicated that it was not just for defense. On the left rear side of the warhorse hung a double-handed greatsword, common in style as a horse-slashing sword, but unusually, it was a whole meter longer and much thicker than an ordinary one. The weight of this fierce weapon was at least over 100 kilograms, and the power it wielded was almost irresistible.

The mountain road with rubble as its base groaned under the iron hooves of the warhorse. Wherever the iron hooves of the warhorse passed, rubble flew, dirt splashed, leaving deep pits and directly exposing the muddy ground beneath the base. Behind the knight, there was another team of twenty heavily armored cavalry, followed by nearly a hundred light cavalry. Even the light cavalry wore well-crafted full chainmail, and over half of them were equipped with magical longbows with flashing light patterns, extremely well-equipped. Such an army was enough to capture the castle of Lord Tack, but at this moment, they were rushing towards the small village of Luselan at full speed!

Everyone, including the village head, had pale faces. The hunters were brave, but even the bravest hunters knew they couldn't resist these knights armed to the teeth. The village head saw something unusual from the particularly tall warhorse of the leading knight. His past military experience told him that only a constructed knight would have such a tall warhorse!

The heavily armored knight charged into the village of Luselan, forcefully pulling the warhorse. The massive warhorse reared up, and its front hooves landed heavily, creating two shallow pits in the ground. When the warhorse stopped, the hot breath from its nostrils had already rushed onto the village head's chest. The knight lifted the visor of his helmet, revealing a resolute and majestic face. He coldly swept his gaze over the villagers in the square and asked, "Who knows where Eliya·Silver Moon lives?"

The villagers looked at each other. There was no woman named Eliya·Silver Moon in Luselan village. The blacksmith and the village head remembered something but didn't speak. The knight's face turned even darker. He was about to speak when the door of the nearby potion shop suddenly opened, and Eliya walked out, calmly asking, "Did Gavin·Warsong send you?"

The knight stared at Eliya, and his face suddenly changed. He leaped off the warhorse like a flying iron mountain, landing in front of Eliya, kneeling on one knee. He took off his helmet, revealing his entire face, lowered his head slightly, and said in a deep voice, "I am Mordred, the knight before Lord Gavin·Warsong. I am here to escort Lady back by his order!"

Mordred had dark red short hair like steel needles. Although he was kneeling in front of Eliya with his head lowered, his aura was irresistibly released, and the entire magic potion shop trembled slightly under his majesty. Within his massive body, it was like there was a volcano that might erupt at any moment.

Eliya's dress fluttered, but she didn't step back. She stood calmly in the airflow and nodded, saying, "With you here, I can rest assured."

Mordred grinned and said, "Thank you, Lady, for your compliment."

Eliya pulled Gray behind her and placed his little hand in Mordred's palm, saying, "He is the one Gavin·Warsong wants most. His name is Aiden·Gray..." After a pause, Eliya continued, "...Aiden·Gray·Archimonde."

Mordred carefully looked at Gray, then closed his hand, gently grasping Gray's little hand, and smiled, saying, "Mordred is willing to serve you!"

The knight looked up at Eliya again and said, "Respected Lady, have you packed your things? Let's start our journey. Lord Gavin·Warsong must be eager to see you!"

"I need to get something very important. Wait for me for a while," said Eliya, then walked into the magic potion shop and closed the door.

At this moment, Gray was staring at Mordred, and the bloodthirsty lion-like knight was also looking at him. They stared at each other, small eyes staring at big eyes. After a while, Mordred grinned again, not knowing why.

However, his smile suddenly froze on his face!

Without warning, flames sprayed out of every window of the magic potion shop, even bursting through the roof, with the blazing fire shooting up tens of meters into the sky! The flames were so intense and sudden that even Mordred didn't notice them!

With a roar, the knight took a step and crashed into the potion shop. The walls made of bluestone were no different from cheese in front of him, and the raging flames couldn't cause him even the slightest harm. When he rushed into the potion shop, he saw Eliya sitting gracefully, with flames shooting out from every part of her body, burning everything in the room! Mordred was stunned. He had wanted to rescue Eliya, but he didn't expect all the fire to be emanating from her. She had already burned herself!

Seeing Mordred rushing into the flames, Eliya smiled at him, then completely turned into flames, burning and sublimating, leaving no trace in this world.

Mordred stood silently, letting the fierce fire lick his body. Eliya's last smile was deeply imprinted in his mind. That smile was so beautiful, so elegant, and so complex.

Gray frantically screamed and kicked the heavily armored knight holding him, trying to rush into the flames. But all his efforts were futile, and the flames were so intense that the entire potion shop collapsed in an instant!

Mordred slowly emerged from the ruins, looked at Gray who was crying hysterically, and after a moment of silence, said, "You have a good mother. Come, I'll take you to see your father."

The sudden turn of events also stunned the villagers of Ruthland Village. They stared blankly at the ruins where the flames had died down, only emitting wisps of smoke, unable to believe that just minutes ago, it was the potion shop that had accompanied them for ten years.

The heavily armored cavalry formed a line and slowly left Ruthland Village with Gray. Mordred and the light cavalry remained. He had no intention of burying Eliya because she had completely turned into flames. Only a pure and crazed genius could completely burn themselves, so Mordred had great respect for this woman he had only met once.

Gazing at the ruins, Mordred's mouth curved up slightly, and in a voice too low to be heard by anyone else, he said, "This is a woman worthy of the officer."

At this moment, a knight rode his horse to Mordred's side and asked, "officer, what should we do with the people in this village?"

Mordred looked at the men, women, and children gathered in the square, stroked his beard as hard as iron on his upper lip, and said calmly, "There are quite a few adult men here. The officer wouldn't want to see any men living here. So, kill them all!"
