"No problem," Li Chen agreed directly, "Sweet wife, you're already mine, why the need for help? Isn't that a bit too formal?"
Lin Yi bit her lip, she glanced at the pig-like Li Chen in front of her, wanting to speak, but for the moment didn't know how to start. If she wanted to turn Lin Company into a giant in the world of cosmetics, perfume was undoubtedly an essential part, and the ability Li Chen had shown was absolutely a gold mine worth digging.
As long as Li Chen was there, Lin's Group could keep developing new fragrances and attain a world-class level. In fact, it could be said that as long as Li Chen was there, the Ferdinand team was nothing to speak of.
But the problem was, how could she get Li Chen to help, especially after their marriage was dissolved in three months? Would he leave her high and dry, and if he did, what then for her company?
For a moment, Lin Yi's thoughts were in disarray.
Not speaking up yet, my beautiful wife? I wonder how long you can hold out, Li Chen thought with an inward chuckle, having guessed Lin Yi's thoughts a while ago.
After organizing her thoughts, Lin Yi spoke up: "I want to hire you as a perfumer for my company."
I knew you'd make that kind of request.
Li Chen retracted his arm, a wicked smile on his face: "Then do I still need to sleep on the streets?"
Lin Yi's face turned red, and she said, "Of course not."
"Then," Li Chen looked at Lin Yi, "can I sleep in your room?"
"Bastard, don't go too far!" Lin Yi suddenly exploded in anger.
Seeing her angry look, Li Chen couldn't help wanting to take a bite; even her anger was so adorable.
"Don't be mad, sweet wife," Li Chen blinked, "Or, you can come sleep in my room if you like."
"Li Chen!"
Lin Yi was on the verge of going crazy; this bastard was simply her nemesis.
"We're already an old married couple, no need to be shy," Li Chen said with a snicker.
"Get out!" Lin Yi couldn't take it anymore, grabbing a notebook from the table to throw at him.
"Cough cough, sweet wife, I'm just joking," Li Chen quickly said seriously, seeing Lin Yi put the object down and letting out a sigh of relief. When Lin Yi got angry she really was like a little lion.
"I can help you with this," Li Chen said, "but I can only help you when I'm free, I can't stay in the lab all day."
Lin Yi calmed down and nodded: "Okay, I'll pay you three times what Wang Lei gets."
"Wife, why be so formal?" Li Chen waved his hand, but seeing a change in Lin Yi's expression, he quickly said, "I don't need a salary, you just need to agree to one more condition."
"What condition?"
"Just add a few pieces of equipment to the lab," Li Chen said, "I'll need them for my own use."
Lin Yi nodded.
"So, sweet wife, is there anything else?" Li Chen asked tentatively.
"Nothing else," Lin Yi said.
"Then I'll be leaving," Li Chen stood up, blinking, "I've seen enough of the company, I'll come by when I have time."
Lin Yi was both annoyed and amused, and just as Li Chen was about to step out of the room, she blurted out as if possessed by a demon, "Remember to come home for dinner tonight."
Li Chen was taken aback, turning around to see Lin Yi's flushed face, and couldn't help feeling a stir in his heart. Had this stunning wife he'd picked up actually started to like him? Well, it's no wonder, all because he was so handsome and dashing.
"Sweet wife, just wash up and wait for me," Li Chen said mischievously, then walked out the door.
"You!" Lin Yi was so angry her chest heaved, and after a long while she muttered to herself, "How could I say that kind of thing?"
Thinking back to the words she'd blurted out multiple times today, and Li Chen's wicked smile, Lin Yi's lips curved into a slight smile.
...
After leaving Lin Building, Li Chen looked at the traffic coming and going, uncertain of what to do. There was no word from Alice, Shadow was investigating, and Ghost King and his men were hiding in the shadows, not showing themselves without a good opportunity.
Gathering his thoughts, Li Chen decided to put these matters aside for the moment.
"I've been in Licun City for so long and haven't really explored. Today's a good day for that."
Wandering aimlessly for a while, Li Chen raised his eyes and found himself at Central Park.
This was Licun City's largest park, with a well-planned layout, a perfect harmony between people, scenery, and nature, and its most distinctive feature was a 500-acre lake. There were many activities related to the lake, the most popular being recreational fishing.
In Central Park, you could rent fishing gear from shops and go fishing, with any catches being your own, which is why the park was always bustling with fishers. Fishing was also a favorite pastime for many people in Licun City.
Fishing?
Li Chen touched his chin, thinking back to the times he fished in the mountains with those old men, and smiled faintly, remembering how they'd cheated together when he was young, a bunch of old rascals.
He headed towards a shop but suddenly stopped in his tracks.
"I should've asked my beautiful wife for some money." Li Chen couldn't help but smile wryly. Without money, he couldn't even go fishing.
Well, since he couldn't fish, watching was still an option.
With that thought, Li Chen began to wander around Central Park.
Even on a Friday, there were particularly many people fishing, including fishing children, families of three, but mostly older adults.
