Chapter 17: The Bewitched Charlotte

This was something she hadn't considered thoroughly.

When encountering a place with water and the ability to do laundry, anyone would naturally want to clean their dirty clothes.

[The cheapest washer-dryer combo in the shop costs 500 points.]

So expensive.

"Are there any standalone washing machines?"

No need for drying functionality, just washing is fine.

[Yes, 50 points.]

"Alright, I'll take two. Place them in the first-floor bathroom."

Charlotte made the decision immediately, then thought of something else. "Set it to 5 points per wash, and also buy a vertical glass display case to place next to the water dispenser in the hall."

She opened the shop, selected 10 small packages of high-efficiency laundry detergent for 20 points, and also bought 5 packs of long sanitary pads, 5 pairs of women's underwear, 5 sports bras, and 5 pairs of men's underwear, totaling 80 points.

All expenses were covered by the store's revenue.

She carried the pile of items back to the hall.

Next to the water dispenser stood a vertical glass display case, 30 cm wide and 45 cm high, with four shelves.

Charlotte placed the laundry detergent on the third shelf, women's underwear and panties on the second shelf, men's underwear on the first shelf, and sanitary pads on the fourth shelf.

She also found some free disposable soap, shampoo, and towels provided by the system, placing them in the reception counter for tomorrow's distribution to the three single rooms.

Looking at the full drawer of supplies, Charlotte sighed deeply.

What to do, the more free items she gave away, the more she was envied~

She had a vague premonition that her future days would not be calm.

Returning to her room, Charlotte ordered a spicy rice noodle and a lime passion fruit tea from the food court. She sweated from the heat and enjoyed the sour and spicy taste.

After eating, she walked around for an hour to digest and then took a relaxing hot bath.

Humming a tune, she snuggled into the soft quilt, listening to the rain outside, and sighed contentedly.

Before going to sleep, she checked the store's daily performance. After subtracting expenses, there were still 883 points remaining, totaling 1349 points.

She was getting closer to leveling up.

Satisfied, Charlotte turned off the lights.

Early to bed and early to rise, she had to prepare breakfast service the next day.

...

At 5 AM, the alarm rang on time, and Charlotte got up.

She had slept very well last night.

Stretching, she noted how her routine had become very regular since coming to this world.

Going to bed around 8 PM, waking up at 5 AM, and taking a nap at noon.

Charlotte walked to the window, drew back the curtain, and saw that the outside was still gloomy, with rain pouring continuously.

When she went out yesterday, she had made a point to circle around the building and couldn't find a window for her room.

However, from inside, she could see the neighborhood and it was directly facing the park.

From outside, the park was a few streets away from her.

She had puzzled over this for a while yesterday, but the system wouldn't answer, so she decided not to waste more brain cells on it and let it be.

Charlotte folded the quilt neatly, went to the bathroom to wash up, and took the clothes from the washing machine to hang on a rack to dry.

By the time she finished, it was already 5:30 AM. Not wanting to dawdle, she changed into her shoes and went out.

By the time she reached the second floor, several people were already standing outside the breakfast room.

After smiling and nodding to them, she opened the door and went in first.

Jeremy followed closely, being the first to walk to the self-service ordering machine.

Leo and his wife, as well as Emma, stared wide-eyed, unsure of what to do, secretly observing Jeremy's actions to avoid any embarrassment.

The woman who had looked pale last night seemed to have recovered significantly after a night's rest.

Unlike the others, she stood straight at the back, scanning everything with alert eyes.

Charlotte didn't care what the others thought. She was quite hungry this morning after eating too much last night and grabbed a few of her favorite items.

Suddenly, the self-service ordering machine made a notification sound. Charlotte looked up and saw that Leo and his wife only had one card, which couldn't be used to order for 李云 and Emma.

Charlotte promptly said, "Breakfast cards cannot be shared. They should go downstairs to get their own point cards."

Leo, holding a tray, wanted to go down with them, but another warning sounded in the room.

"Warning first: Outside food is prohibited. After three warnings, the ordered food will be confiscated. Please be aware."

Leo's face turned red, and he could only hand over two Level 1 crystal nuclei to the others to recharge their cards.

The two sisters hurried downstairs.

Leo sat down with his tray and eagerly looked at the food on his plate.

The woman then walked to the ordering machine, ordered 10 pies, and sat down at the only empty table.

As soon as she took a bite, she fell silent, remembering her comrades fighting on the front lines who couldn't get food or water and had to constantly fend off enemy and zombie attacks...

Thinking of the person still fighting on the battlefield, making every effort to give hope of survival to their comrades, her eyes reddened, and she chewed forcefully.

No! She had to quickly regain her strength and return to the battlefield! They needed her!

...

Fawna arrived late, bouncing over to the ordering machine. This time, she didn't order much—just a glass of milk, two fried eggs, and two fried dumplings.

It only cost 10 points~ Oh, oh~

Fawna sat next to Charlotte with her tray, smiling sweetly.

"Big sister, you're up so early today~"

Charlotte found the cute girl endearing. She patted her head and playfully tweaked her little deer antlers.

A bit hard but very fluffy; the feeling was quite peculiar.

"You're the one who got up late today."

Fawna wrinkled her nose cutely and said with a milk-soft voice, "It's the weather. I can't wake up when it rains, and in winter, I could sleep the whole season!"

She then covered her mouth, cautiously looking around. Seeing no one paying attention, she leaned closer to Charlotte and whispered, "You mustn't tell anyone, okay? That's my secret. My brother doesn't want me to tell others! He'll spank me!"

Charlotte laughed, mimicking her voice and leaning closer. "I won't tell. Did you find your brother?"

Her big, sparkling eyes, long lashes fluttering, a small, cute nose, and chubby cheeks were irresistibly adorable!

Charlotte found herself enchanted.

"Yes, my brother told me to stay here and not move. He'll come soon."

Fawna's eyes brightened with excitement, her eyebrows lifting, her cheeks flushing with joy.

Summer's lips, driven by impulse, gave Fawna a peck on the cheek.

Fawna's face turned bright red: !!!

Charlotte's face flushed: !!!

Jeremy, observing from the side: ?!!!

Fawna's eyes grew even more lustrous, dark and shiny like the brightest star in the clearest night sky.

Suddenly, she became bashful, her cheeks flushed like a sunset. She lowered her gaze, biting her lips and finally shyly called out:

"...Sister..."
