Uninvited Guests II

The party of four were racing down the road, Sarah in lead. Occasionally they would see a blood stain on the road, sometimes little drops while at other times larger stains were present meaning the wounds must have worsened while they were transporting him. Each time they passed a blood stain Sarah's shoulders would grow taut.

They were slowly growing farther and farther from civilization, the houses were slowly being replaced by trees and the road soon gave way to just the grassy floor.

After a while they were finally free from the sounds of the city and shortly after they arrived at the location.

Now Luck could see why the place was called flower field, although it was pretty obvious from the name, Luck did not expect it to be on this scale.

Right in front of him was a large expanse of flowers dotting the plain for as far as the eyes could see, different colours and shapes beautifying the expanse of land.

The air there had a nice aroma, it was like multiple perfumes were mixed together to create an aromatic scent.

But there was one stain dotting the beautiful visage, right in the field of flowers were about 15 armed men, all smiling with wild looks in their eyes as it locked on Sarah and Jane.

On the floor next to them was a man in a deplorable state, his blonde hair was soaked in blood and his formerly handsome face was a mess of bruises and swelling. It looked as if he was barely hanging onto life.

There was something strange about this whole arrangement, Luck suspected that Chari had noticed but kept it to himself in order to prevent Jane from bringing any further protests.

And so Luck kept it to himself as well, after all it wouldn't affect the overall outcome.

Since Sarah entertained the idea of them going to save her friend it meant that the place was nearby and it was somewhere they frequently visited.

What if they hadn't discovered the letter today or maybe for 3 days? Would they just be simply sitting there in the middle of a field waiting for them to come?

And why use something as vague as 'flower field' to give out a location? It simply meant that they knew that they or rather Sarah would be coming to visit the young man.

Judging by the state the man was in, basically knocking at death's door, it meant they weren't after him from the beginning.

He could clearly imagine it, after all determining an enemy's state of mind and thinking was his job in his last life.

As his mind wandered to his old abilities that strange feeling came again. It felt as though he was forgetting something but he shook it off. He needed to focus on the situation right in front of him.

He quickly returned to his old thought process. Why kidnap a lowly merchant when you can have a maid from the Moon clan instead?

Although they were maids in the moon clan the top 5 clans were basically like royalty in this world.

Meaning that a lot of the people in the moon clan were from highly respectable families. Basically they had two sources of ransome, one from the moon clan and the other from Sarah's family.

Audacious but smart nonetheless.

In the midst of them was a man that appeared to be in his late 40s, he had a large Naginata resting on his shoulder albeit a modified version of the weapon.

The curved blade was unnaturally wide and long, matching the size of a broadsword, the blade was properly polished and appeared blood red under the retreating sunset.

The man held onto the large blade comfortably sitting on the wooden chair, legs crossed.

He was undoubtedly their leader.

He wore rugged sleeveless black leather armor that had seen better days, his muscular frame pushing against it and on his left arm was a large scar that went into the armor.

'Did they drag that chair all the way from the merchant's house?'

The man's eyes roved past them and then landed on Sarah.

"It seems you don't care if this young man dies? I said come alone"

Immediately her eyes landed on the merchant there was a brief moment of sadness and after that there was anger.

"All the letter said was 'flower field.'"

He looked towards one of the bandits, probably the one that was charged with the duty of writing the message, his gaze questioning.

"I wanted us to sound mysterious boss."

The man was trembling under his intimidating gaze.

The large naginata came down on the man's head splitting it with ease, blood and gore rolled down the man's lifeless body.

The leader flung the sword forward, tossing the blood and viscera off it. The sword was now pointing in their direction.

"Kill them all, actually no, leave the two girls."

Then hell broke loose.

It was 15 vs 4 but Luck liked or rather loved their chances. He was going to finally test out everything he had been learning over the past week.

Before the fight began Luck and Chari shared a knowing look.

'We will not lose!' And then they spun into action.

"Stay close to me!"

Jane said and then her dagger flew into the air slicing apart the neck of one of the charging bandits. She pushed into their assault and sent a kick to one of them knocking him back.

The dagger flew high in the air and then suddenly curved, returning back to her hand and just as it did she rotated her body in a violent arc driving the dagger right into a man's arm.

He yelped in pain.

Chari on the other hand was moving like a demonic rabbit.

Because of his size it was difficult for him to reach their heads but that didn't mean they were safe. He thrust his foot forward in one powerful blow connecting with one of the bandit's gut, the man reeled, bending downwards and Chari used his back as a stepping stone to jump into the air.

He was now face to face with another bandit and his staff rammed into his face in a horrifying crunch.

Sarah was moving too, the beautiful girl ghostly in battle. She moved like the wind, appearing behind enemies with ease and dealing devastating blows at their weak points.

She dodged an approaching claymore, the claymore planted itself in the ground and all of a sudden she was standing on top of it.

The bandit looked at her surprised and tried to lift the claymore but his head came off first, it was as though an invisible force had severed his head right from his neck. His body fell down in a plump leaving a bloody mess on the floor.

Luck was no stranger to battle, in fact if he added his experience in his last life to his current life he would be close to Jane in terms of battle experience, but this was not earth... The foes here were far tougher than back home.

Thankfully he had spent the last couple of weeks training.

He lunged forward his dagger hungry for blood, he struck any person that got in his way, any body that just happened to be near his was instantly torn apart.

A man holding a crude club surged forward lifting the club up and delivering a devastating swipe sending dust all over the area but he had completely missed his target.

From the dust he could see two blue eyes glowing from within the cloud, then it moved and was gone.

But there was now a bleeding hole in his chest.
