Chari and his alter, Luck, later find themselves once again in a tango with death which they inevitably lose but in that moment of grief they are suddenly reborn as twins into a world plagued by a brutal war between civilization and the Phantoms.

The flames ate through his psyia, burning right into his skin. Chari could already see black smoke emanating out of his sizzling skin just before Brennon moved.

He disappeared from Chari's line of sight, making use of his outstanding speed to break his concentration.

Now that he was not in Chari's line of sight he could no longer forcefully keep the flames burning.

Chari's body was still bubbling with energy and he had watched Brennon long enough to know where he would attack from.

He immediately turned around, swinging his flaming staff in a wide arc but all it met was plain air. Brennon was nowhere in sight.

Realizing that Brennon had changed his point of attack, Chari immediately turned but it was already too late.

Brennon grabbed onto his face before he could swing once more. Intense maddening pain coursed through his body eliciting a stifled groan.
