Chapter 6: Have I been living well these past two years?

A man who can carry such a collectible and possess extraordinary skills is probably not an average person.

Moreover, his appearance in the middle of the night and immediately guessing her identity was no coincidence— if he was not after the files, he must have had ulterior motives.

"Young Master, you are not thinking of investigating the Chu family, are you?" Chi Ying, who had been her companion for many years, quickly deduced her thoughts and, scared, immediately drew closer, wrapping her arms around Yinyin's waist like an octopus, pouting and stammering, "I don't agree, the Chu family is a dragon's den and a tiger's lair; it's too dangerous for you to go alone."

At first glance, they really did look like a couple in the throes of passionate love.

"..." Despite being preoccupied with heavy thoughts, Mu Yin couldn't help but be amused into a reluctant smile and pinched her chubby cheeks, "You go first and see if there is any way to blend in unnoticed for a while, as a bodyguard or servant... anything will do..."

"No..." Chi Ying looked up to protest but before she could finish her sentence, she heard a stern rebuke from outside, "Who permitted you to act on your own?"

Immediately after, a mountainous, stout middle-aged man appeared at the door, his face, weathered by time, undisguised in its severity and anger.

"Uncle Chi." Mu Yin was startled and hurriedly stood up to greet him.

He was the former head of the security department at Yunmu Medical Group. As a young man, he had been in the special forces, possessing exceptional abilities. He was known for his loyalty and valor and was greatly valued by Mu Wei. He had also received favors from the Mu family, which is why he was entrusted with such confidence in his dying moments.

Fortunately, he had not let anyone down; he dressed Mu Yin in disguise and sent her to the military school, later throwing his own daughter, Chi Ying, in to accompany her.

Over the past two years, he and his daughter had been protecting her closely, instructing her and ensuring her safety without any slack until the Mu family case was closed and the storm had passed before they dared to return.

They were her saviors, as well as her elders and family.

"Dad, hehe..." Meeting his gaze, Chi Ying, terrified, hid behind Mu Yin.

"You little brat, I asked you to ensure the Young Master's safety, not to encourage her to take risks," Chi Zhenfa glared fiercely at her, reaching out to drag her out for a deserved scolding.

"Uncle Chi, don't blame Yingying, it was my own decision..." Mu Yin quickly stepped in front of him, shielding Chi Ying tightly behind her, "Uncle Chi…"

"Young Master, it's too dangerous, what if those people discover your identity, what then?" Chi Zhenfa was both anxious and angry, looking at the blood on her hand and seemingly reliving that night again, his stern eyes not concealing his fear.

Mu Yin took a deep breath, her voice filled with heavy emotion, "Uncle Chi, I know you're worried about me, but now I am all the Mu family has left. The reason I am hanging on is not because I fear death; it is because I must avenge them. I need to make those who killed my parents and brother pay with their own blood. Do you understand?"

As she spoke, her spine was exceptionally straight while she looked up at him, a heavy glint of moisture appearing in her eyes that she stubbornly suppressed.

She cannot cry!

Two years ago, she had sworn an oath. From now on, Mu Yin could bleed, she could sweat, she might even die, but she must not shed tears easily.

"Yinyin, we can take care of avenging them. I only want you to live well. I believe the chairman would wish the same from heaven!" Chi Zhenfa sighed heavily, and the towering man could not help but tears stream down his face.

Looking at him, Mu Yin shook her head with pained eyes and asked softly, "Uncle Chi, do you think I've lived well these past two years?"
