Chapter 1 (Prologue) Underground Money House 1

A City, a place of Material desires, dazzle, and wealth enveloped in even more enchantment under the cover of night. July was the season of continuous rain, and the light drizzle had persisted for over a week, wearing down even the best of moods...

"Damn it, stop right there!"

On a dark alleyway, a woman was sprinting with her bag in hand. Perhaps because of the recent rain, the ground was somewhat slippery, causing the woman to stumble twice before clumsily getting back up and continuing to run, as the 'hungry wolves' were chasing her from behind.

Streetlights, looking as if they hadn't been repaired in years, had become mere decorations, while dark clouds obscured the moon, making the woman's steps even more laborious. But in order to not fall into the hands of that pack of wolves, she could only keep pushing forward!

"Damn, this wench is quite fast!"

A minute later, the woman finally stopped and took two steps back. Simply because people from three directions had surrounded her, making it impossible to escape even if she grew wings.

The woman closed her eyes slightly, thinking... her time to die had finally come.

"Wanted to run, did you? Why aren't you running now?" a man with a large build and a scar on his face said as he reached out and patted the woman's dirt-stained cheek menacingly.

The woman lifted her head defiantly, "I have no money!"

"No money?" A group of about a dozen ruffians burst into laughter, "No money? Then we'll take you as the debt! After the brothers have had their fun, we'll sell you off to be a bar girl. Don't worry; you'll pay us back one way or another!"

Even the bravest woman could still feel fear, and she was just a woman after all. She was especially afraid of her purity being defiled by these beast-hearted pigs.

"Blindfold her eyes for me!" the leader with the scar ordered.

Quickly, a black cloth blindfolded the woman's eyes, and she was ushered into a car. Twenty minutes later, she was brought into an underground abandoned garage which had been converted into their den.

"Boss, we've brought her to you."

In the darkness, Wen Wan sensed the scarred man reporting to another with the utmost respect.

The black cloth that covered her eyes was soon ripped off. The glare of a bright light made the woman shut her eyes immediately, and only after adjusting for a while did she slowly open a sliver...

"We've given you an extension of a month. You should be clear; if you can't pay, you'll have to settle the debt with your life." In the middle of the garage sat a middle-aged man with a rugged appearance, legs crossed arrogantly, flicking a dagger before him.

"I have no money," the woman said, her head slightly lowered, her hair a messy tangle, her delicate face dirty, with only her bright, clear eyes remaining untouched. Her clothes had been soaked by the rain, and she looked utterly disheveled.

The man called 'boss' immediately gave his subordinates a look. Following that, a door opened, and a handsome little boy ran out, calling toward the woman, "Mommy—"

"Xiaoguai!" The woman turned abruptly, and upon seeing the boy being dragged away by someone, she could no longer maintain her composure. She desperately tried to rush forward but was held back by two men.

"Beasts! You promised not to touch him!" The woman suddenly went into a frenzy, but no matter how much she struggled, she couldn't break free from the strong grip of the men.

Just then, the garage door suddenly opened, and a squad of neatly-dressed bodyguards entered with disciplined strides, followed by a man with an imposing presence.
