Su Xiaoyue snapped back to her senses and smiled apologetically at Mingyu, "I wasn't thinking about anything."
Mingyu's eyes twinkled, clearly not buying her words. He thought for a moment, then said understandingly, "Mom, if you have things to deal with, you go ahead and handle them. I'll play by myself for a while. Daddy will be back soon. Grandma said she's hosting dinner tonight to celebrate your and daddy's new marriage."
Su Xiaoyue smiled, affectionately stroked Mingyu's head, and belatedly realized that this child was really becoming more sensible and wasn't as prone to playing tricks as before. This was his progress, and she too was comforted. "Mingyu, once Mom has sorted things out, I'll join you to play."
Mingyu hummed in agreement and then went off to play with his ball by himself.
Watching the little guy play on his own, Su Xiaoyue's heart softened into a puddle of spring water.
