Losing that wisp of his Primordial Spirit was enough to dash any hopes of Daoist Yang Mei contending for the Four-Step Saint in this lifetime.
It also caused his Divine Soul to become incomplete.
"Report, Demon Ancestor! Both the Black Cloth Guardian and the White-clothed Protector's Soul Lamps have been extinguished!"
Before long, a protector at the pinnacle of quasi-saint entered and spoke to Daoist Yang Mei.
His primary duty within the Demon Clan was to watch over the Soul Lamps. Upon seeing that the lamps of the Black and White Clothed had gone out, he didn't wait for the people Yang Mei had sent to arrive but came over himself already.
The Soul Lamps were kept within the Soul Hall; as long as a lamp remained lit, it signified the individual was still alive.
For within each lamp, a fragment of a demon's soul was stored.
Of course, not all members of the Demon Clan were eligible to enter the Soul Hall and leave behind a Soul Lamp.
