Tang Zelin had intended to pull the girl over for a hug, the little brat—always dampening his spirits. He glanced at the door he had almost kicked in; it was rather... indecent, to say the least.
He got up, propped the door up, blocking the view from outside and the draft blowing through the hallway.
Turning back to continue what he had not finished earlier, he saw Su Shu intending to head to the mushroom area and pulled her back in one swift motion.
"Haven't I told you not to touch them? Those mushrooms can't be eaten. Throw them away later."
"Throw away? Why, they aren't poisonous."
"Don't you know many people in the mountains have been poisoned?" Tang Zelin frowned, looking down at her.
"I know. Grandmother Fu from next door came to visit this morning. But I've checked these mushrooms; they aren't poisonous," said Su Shu.
Tang Zelin pulled her over, sat her down so that their eyes were level, and asked, "How do you know they are not poisonous? What if something happens?"
