Writing the script with Soo-jin, time passed quickly, unknowingly. As I sat next to her, I was only suggesting some little and minor things; she was the one who was writing the whole script.
As I saw her face, it was beautiful as always. It has the power to mesmerize me every time I look. She is beautiful, charming, has a great personality, and mostly, she doesn't hate me.
Her straight, black hair gently swayed when the wind blew from the window, stealing my heartbeats away. Her straight and delicate nose, her thin and little bright red lips, her cheeks with hair bangs dangling, and little sweat drops dripping down.
As she diligently worked, she charmed me more and more. I think I am falling in love deeper and deeper, all day, every day. Every time I meet her, every time she smiles at me, every time she laughs with me, every time she smirks for me, every time she jokes.
I should stop. I should stop. I should really stop, or else she will catch me looking at her. I should seriously stop. Why is my body not listening to me? Come on, stop admiring her and focus on work. But she really looks lovely.
Come on, focus on work. Focus on her. No, no, I should count sheep. Yes, sheep. Soo-jin 1, Soo-jin 2—wait, sheep. It's sheep, for God's sake. Come on, once more. Sheep 1, sheep 2, Soo-jin 3, Soo-jin 4—damn it, it's not working. Well, let's forget it and admire her to my heart's content.
While Joon-ho was admiring Soo-jin, he thought of all the memories he had of her up until now—his first impression of her as she was afraid of getting scolded for coming late, her laughing emojis while chatting, her care when his leg was injured.
Her little play of Oscar before cleaning the club room, her face while pushing him out after stuffing the cookies, her smirk before she asked what book he was reading, and her eyes now as she was looking at him.
While Joon-ho finally listened to his heart, Soo-jin looked beside her, and as she looked, she froze because Joon-ho was looking at her with those eyes. What do I mean by that? I mean every girl in the past who had an admirer will always say this to their admirer at least once: "Stop looking at me with those eyes."
Yes, he was looking at me with those eyes full of love, not the ones full of lust. How do I know that? That's because, from little till now, everyone praised me for my beauty. Growing up, everyone looked at me with lust more than love.
So I have the ability to recognize eyes, and eyes tell more than words can ever tell without lies. And right now, he was looking at me with eyes full of love, admiring my beauty, not lusting after my body.
As Soo-jin and Joon-ho looked at each other, time froze for them. While they were looking at each other, Joon-ho was deeply falling for Soo-jin because she was the first girl who never looked down on him, who never judged him by his clothes.
She was the first girl who laughed, joked, and even cared for him when he was injured. Heck, she was even the first girl who gave him his first gift—cookies.
After a long time passed, Soo-jin snapped out of it. As she saw him looking at her without blinking, she spoke the lines that not every girl gets a chance to speak in their whole life, and finally, she got this chance after 18 long years. As her heart pounded in her chest with the pace of a rocket, blushing with a face full of red, she spoke the lines that every girl dreams of:
"Stop, stop looking at me with those eyes."
As Joon-ho heard her speak, he woke up from his trance and, blushing, looked down at the script while speaking:
"What which— which eyes? What are you talking about?"
When Soo-jin heard him, she laughed out mentally, thinking, He is cute. He is really cute when embarrassed. Should I embarrass him even more? Does he like me? Well, after all, he was looking at me affectionately earlier, so he definitely likes me.
What if he proposes to me? What should I say? Should I say yes? After all, he is good-looking, and his personality is good too. And I can't decline him; I don't want to break his heart. If I do, it will make him sad, and I don't want to see him sad.
After all, he is the first person in front of whom I broke my mask of a cheerful lady and showed my true, rebellious, and childish personality. So that's why I can't break his heart and need to accept it anyway. Thinking like that, Soo-jin said smirkingly:
"Do you really not know, or are you pretending not to know?"
Now, Joon-ho was thinking, She should have seen me as a creep, but with her tone, it doesn't seem like it. Unable to hide his embarrassment, he turned beet red up to his ears, and steam was practically gushing out of his ears as he replied, not seeing her in the eyes anymore, changing topics:
"So, when are we going to give the script to Professor Lee?"
Soo-jin was too embarrassed to continue this topic anymore and gave up embarrassing Joon-ho, saying:
"Probably yesterday or the day after yesterday if it isn't completed today, that is."
"So, let's continue where we left off."
Like that, Soo-jin recalled what she wanted to seek an opinion from Joon-ho:
"Let's cut the scene of the hacker while hacking the messaging server and make it a phone call. I think the script is getting quite long for a short film. What do you say?"
"Yes, I think so too. While we're at it, let's cut that elevator scene too. I think it's not needed."
"Okay."
As we started writing the script again, two hours passed quickly, and the time to leave the club room came as Soo-jin said, looking at her phone for the time:
"Okay, Joon-ho, I need to leave now; it's getting late for me."
As she hurriedly packed her things, I wondered, Does she need to pick up her younger sister again? Seeing her leave, I spoke first:
"Bye, go home safely."
"Yes, you too. Let's complete the script tomorrow and present it to Professor Lee."
"Okay."
When she left, a lingering warmth and fragrance remained in the air, which was diminishing little by little, and an empty feeling was growing in my heart.
As I glanced at my wristwatch, seeing the time and thinking of being late, I too started to increase my pace and got out of the film club room.
While walking, I was thinking of Soo-jin. As I neared the university front gate, I collided with the person I hated the most in this world. He was my nightmare, the person I loathed the most, and beside him was his sister.
She was watching, amused. She always loved to watch, never interfering in whatever happened, and she was the second person in the world I hated from my bones.
It was none other than my half-brother and half-sister, Kim Tae-hyun and Kim Eun-seo.
