Chapter 20: The Running Nurse

As Soo-jin saw Seo Jin-woo chasing after Kim Tae-hyun, she thought, They are always together. Yesterday, too, I saw them coming out of the car together. Are they a couple or what?

Anyway, I shouldn't mind their business. Sigh, today too, I didn't get to thank him properly. I tried, but he just blatantly ignored me. Forget it, he seemed out of sorts today.

But Kim Tae-hyun was so gentlemanly yesterday, with his handsome and rich vibe. Any girl would fall for him, but now he's reverted back to his gangster appearance. What is his real personality?

While Soo-jin was thinking this, she heard a voice coming from behind her.

"Hey, Soo-jin, you like that new guy? He's definitely handsome."

It was Park Ji-eun, Soo-jin's friend. Soo-jin had made countless friends in her life but had never been able to make a true friend—the one friend with whom you could share anything and everything in your life.

After the incident with her brother and losing the warmth of her family, she lost the feeling of how it felt to be loved because she was afraid.

Afraid that if she got closer to someone, they would leave her one day, throw her away. That's why she was not able to make a proper friend in her life.

Wearing a mask and smiling at everyone, she hid her feelings deep in her heart, not telling anyone.

She was the apple of the eye, kind and gentle, the focus of attention, but not trusting anyone. She was not able to make that one true friend.

Many people do not find that one true friend in their whole life; only extremely lucky people have that one friend with whom you can share anything and everything, who will support you in any situation.

You only get that one friend if they are in your destiny.

But Joon-ho is different to her. He is the person whom she does not trust fully, but still feels like she can trust him fully.

Park Ji-eun was also one of her casual friends, the type you grow close to in a common situation. She was nice to talk to and was in the same class.

They became friends after meeting at the university for the first time and grew closer as they sat next to each other in class.

As she heard Park Ji-eun speak, noticing her voice, she turned back and saw her smiling while speaking again.

"You should forget him. He is very out of our league. People like them look at family status more than how beautiful we are, and above all, he looks too fierce. The woman who marries him will definitely be scared to death."

When Soo-jin heard her friend speaking like that, she chuckled and said, "You might be wrong about that."

As Kim Tae-hyun ignored Soo-jin and walked past her, moving toward his car, his friend Seo Jin-woo was also following him.

As he sat in his Rolls-Royce, not even 1 minutes had passed before he started feeling regret. Seo Jin-woo, seeing his boss's face, thought, I knew he would feel regretful for ignoring Soo-jin, but I didn't know he would be in despair this soon.

As Seo Jin-woo started the car and wanted to drive, knowing that anytime his boss would say to stop, he heard his boss speak.

"Wait, Jin-woo, don't drive."

After saying that, Kim Tae-hyun walked out of the car, rushing back into the university. Wanting to apologize to Soo-jin, he started to search for her while walking.

Seo Jin-woo was also following Kim Tae-hyun.

While Kim Tae-hyun was searching for Soo-jin, he arrived near their class, in the corridor where they had spoken moments ago.

Upon arriving, he saw no one there. Searching everywhere like a madman, he arrived at the university gate again and saw Soo-jin boarding a bus labeled "Asan Medical Center."

Seeing the bus number and destination, he froze in place. Next to him, Seo Jin-woo also looked in the direction his boss was looking.

Seeing Soo-jin boarding the Asan Medical Center bus, he too was sad, sad for his boss.

Sighing, Seo Jin-woo said to his boss, "Let's go, boss. There's a lot of work to do at the company."

As Soo-jin arrived at the Asan Medical Center, walking the familiar path she had walked yesterday, she arrived at her destination.

Inside, Joon-ho was waiting for Soo-jin from the time she left yesterday. He hadn't slept a wink last night, only watching the clock ticking and waiting for the time when Soo-jin would come again.

As Joon-ho was watching the clock, waiting for Soo-jin, he saw the door opening. Thinking it was Soo-jin, a big smile formed on his face.

Seeing the person entering the room, his smile froze because it was a nurse, and worse, it was the same nurse who had run away on the first day.

The nurse, seeing the smile on Joon-ho's face, was creeped out. Goosebumps formed on her body, and shivering, she changed the drip and hurriedly ran out in the last moments.

Joon-ho, seeing her run, thought, She definitely thinks I'm a creep now. He wanted to pull his hair out for scaring a lovely nurse like that.

After some time, as Joon-ho was watching the clock, he again saw the door opening. But this time, he didn't want to be seen as a creep by other nurses, so he didn't smile without confirming if it was Soo-jin or not.

Finally, it was Soo-jin who opened the door this time. As he confirmed it, he smiled, and Soo-jin smiled too. Walking in, she sat down near Joon-ho's bed.

This time, she didn't forget to bring something. As she sat, she took out some apples from her bag, which she had bought outside the hospital.

Yesterday, since she was anxious, she had forgotten to bring something to eat, and came empty-handed.

As she sat and started to peel the apples for Joon-ho, they started to talk, and a cozy atmosphere formed around them.
