Spoils (2)

Wanting to prevent a similar situation from happening again, Conrad used [Transmutation] to set up a makeshift surveillance system. A few dozen insects crafted from the debris scurried off to positions he had carefully selected.

Most were on trees to cover the high ground, while a handful remained on the forest floor for ground-level reconnaissance.

He deliberately limited their number to conserve his Aura, overexerting himself would not only be reckless but would leave him vulnerable.

To share his vision with the insects, Connie has to close one eye or both, though that would be impractical while on the move. Plus, the strain of maintaining the link was mentally exhausting.

Keeping their numbers at a minimum was much more advisable, but he didn't care about that.

Connie wanted to avoid getting ambushed like that again at all costs. If it hadn't been for Krista, his journey would have ended right then and there.
