Randy had an accident

Her voice trembled as she said, "Aisha, if you hear from Randy, contact me immediately. And what happened to you, Aisha? Why are you in the hospital?"

Aisha swallowed, her throat feeling dry. She knew she had to lie, but this lie felt like a thorn piercing her heart. "I... I had a small accident," she answered in a soft voice, trying to hide the pain wracking her body.

Victoria gasped, her heart seemingly stopping. "Oh my! Are you badly hurt?" she asked, her voice filled with worry.

Aisha closed her eyes, holding back the tears that were starting to well up. "Just minor injuries, Auntie. Don't worry," she lied, even though her entire body felt broken.

"Where are you being treated? As soon as we hear from Randy, we'll come right over," Victoria said, her tone showing strong determination.

"Harmony Health Hospital," Aisha answered weakly, before reluctantly ending the call.

After hanging up, Aisha could no longer hold back her tears. She turned to Maya, her mother, with a pale face. "Mom, what should I do? Randy isn't at home either. His whole family is looking for him. I'm afraid something's happened to him," she said in a shaky voice, her eyes reflecting deep fear.

Maya tried to calm her daughter, though she felt the same worry. "Calm down, dear. Maybe Randy's at the office and his phone battery died," she said, but her tone was unconvincing.

Aisha shook her head vigorously, tears flowing freely down her cheeks. "No, Mom. I have a bad feeling. What if he's had an accident too? What if he..." Aisha couldn't finish her sentence, sobs beginning to shake her weak body.

Maya hugged her daughter tightly, trying to hide her own tears. "Shh, don't think like that. Randy must be fine. Now you need to eat and rest so you can recover quickly. We'll find out about Randy together," she said gently, though her own heart was filled with doubt.

Aisha nodded weakly, but her eyes still reflected deep fear. She lay back down on the hospital bed, her mind filled with images of Randy possibly lying helpless somewhere, alone and scared. Her tears flowed silently again, while her irregular heartbeat seemed to count the agonizing seconds of waiting for news from her lover.

Aisha finally fell into a deep sleep, but the peace was short-lived. A few minutes later, the silence in the room was broken by the ear-piercing ring of a phone. Victoria's name, Randy's mother, blinked on the screen.

With trembling hands, Aisha answered the phone. Victoria's voice sounded panicked and breathless on the other end. "Aisha, we've received news about Randy," she said in a tone that made Aisha's heart seem to stop beating.

"Randy... he was found by a scavenger, lying on the side of the Champs-Élysées," Victoria continued, her voice shaking heavily. "He had a solo accident. His motorcycle... was wrecked beside him."

Aisha's world instantly crumbled. She screamed hysterically, tears flooding her pale face. The phone in her hand fell to the floor with a thud, while Victoria's voice calling her name could be heard faintly.

Maya, startled by her daughter's scream, immediately ran and hugged Aisha tightly. "What's wrong, dear? What happened?" she asked in panic.

Aisha tried to speak between her uncontrollable sobs. "R-Randy... a-accident..." was all she could say before sinking back into her tears.

Maya gasped, her face turning pale. "Oh my God! How is he now?" she asked, her voice full of anxiety.

Aisha shook her head weakly, still sobbing. "I-I didn't get to ask..."

Maya picked up the fallen phone and handed it back to Aisha. "Dear, you need to talk to Randy's mother again. Ask about his condition now," she said gently but firmly.

With trembling hands, Aisha brought the phone back to her ear. Victoria's worried voice immediately greeted her. "Aisha? Are you alright?"

"I-I'm okay, Auntie," Aisha answered haltingly. "How... how is Randy's condition now?"

There was a heavy sigh from Victoria. "Randy... he's being handled by doctors now. They're still trying to save him," she answered, her voice full of sadness and fear.

Aisha's heart felt squeezed hearing those words. "W-where is Randy being treated?" she asked, her voice barely audible.

"In the same hospital as you, dear. Harmony Health Hospital," Victoria replied.

Without thinking twice, Aisha immediately ended the call. "Mom," she said to Maya, her eyes full of determination behind the tears that were still flowing. "I have to see Randy now."

Maya was surprised by Aisha's request. Her face reflected deep concern. "Dear, you're still not well. Don't go there yet, you might faint again," she said worriedly, her hand gripping Aisha's hand that still had an IV line attached.

Aisha shook her head hard, her eyes teary but filled with determination. "Mom, I'm feeling better. I have to see Randy," she pleaded, her voice trembling but full of conviction. "I can't just lie here while Randy... while he..." Aisha couldn't finish her sentence, tears starting to flow down her cheeks.

Maya took a long breath, looking at her daughter with a mixture of concern and understanding. She knew how much Aisha loved Randy, and she could imagine the suffering her daughter was going through right now. Finally, she gave in. "Alright, but on one condition," she said firmly. "If you feel unwell, even a little bit, you have to come back to the room immediately. And I must accompany you. No arguments."

Aisha nodded quickly, her eyes shining with hope. "Yes, Mom. I promise. Thank you," she whispered, trying to get up from the bed.

Carefully, Maya helped Aisha get out of bed. Aisha winced softly as her feet touched the cold floor. Her body was still weak, and every movement felt painful. However, her determination to see Randy was stronger than the pain she felt.

With faltering steps, Aisha walked towards the ER, supported closely by Maya. Each step felt heavy, and her breathing started to become labored. But Aisha kept forcing herself to move forward. The long hospital corridor seemed endless.

From a distance, they saw Victoria sitting in the waiting chair in front of the ER. The middle-aged woman looked devastated, her face pale and her eyes swollen from crying. Her hands trembled violently as she held a rosary, her lips moving silently in prayer.

Seeing Aisha approach, Victoria immediately stood up, her eyes widening in surprise. "Aisha, oh my! You're still sick. You should be resting in your room," she said worriedly, hurrying to approach Aisha and Maya.

Aisha was about to answer when suddenly the ER door opened with a loud sound. A doctor came out with a serious face, sweat dampening his forehead. All eyes turned to him, waiting for news with pounding hearts. The atmosphere suddenly became quiet, even the hum of hospital machines seemed muffled by the gripping tension.

"Randy's family?" asked the doctor, his eyes scanning the room.

Victoria stepped forward, her body shaking heavily. "I-I'm his mother," she said haltingly. "How is my son's condition, Doctor?" Her voice was full of hope and fear.

The doctor took a long breath, his face gloomy. He looked at Victoria with an expression that was hard to interpret. "I'm sorry, we've done our best, but..." The doctor paused, as if searching for the right words.

Aisha felt her heart seemingly stop beating. The world around her suddenly went silent. She could see the doctor's lips moving, but no sound was heard. Time seemed to slow down.

Before the doctor could finish his sentence, suddenly there was a commotion from inside the ER. The sound of medical equipment beeping loudly broke the silence, followed by panicked shouts from inside.

A nurse rushed out, her face pale. "Doctor!" she shouted in panic. "The patient is having a seizure!"

Without finishing his explanation, the doctor turned and ran into the ER, leaving Aisha, Victoria, and Maya in gripping uncertainty. The ER door closed again with a thud, leaving them in tremendous confusion and fear.

Panicked voices and the clinking of medical equipment could be faintly heard from behind the door, adding to their anxiety. Victoria fell sitting on the floor, her tears breaking out. Maya hurried to hug her, trying to calm her although she herself was shaking with fear.

Aisha stood frozen, her eyes not leaving the ER door. She felt her world spinning. The image of Randy's face smiling at her for the last time flashed in her mind. "No... it's not possible..." she whispered softly.

Her legs began to wobble, and before she could hold herself, darkness began to envelop her. Her vision blurred, and the sounds around her grew distant. "Randy..." she whispered weakly, tears flowing down her pale cheeks.

Just as her body was about to collapse onto the cold hospital floor, the ER door opened again. The same doctor came out hurriedly, his face a mixture of exhaustion and... relief?

"It's a miracle!" exclaimed the doctor. "The patient has passed his critical period. He..."

But Aisha didn't get to hear the rest of that sentence. Her consciousness had completely disappeared, her body falling limply to the hospital floor. The last thing she heard was her mother's panicked scream and the sound of hurried footsteps approaching her.
