Kael stirred restlessly in his sleep, his dreams plagued by vivid visions. As he tossed and turned, the scenes became clearer: Kyra, their fellow guardian and old friend, fighting valiantly against overwhelming odds. He saw the glint of poisoned arrows, heard the clash of steel, and felt the weight of her desperate determination. Suddenly, his eyes snapped open, his heart pounding in his chest.
"Kael, what's wrong?" Meiza's voice was soft yet filled with concern as she gently shook him awake.
Kael sat up, his breath coming in quick, shallow gasps. "It's Kyra," he said, his voice strained. "She needs our help."
Meiza's eyes widened. "What did you see?"
"I saw her ambushed by assassins, struck by a poisoned arrow. She's fighting for her life," Kael explained, his tone urgent. "We have to go to her."
Without wasting another moment, Kael swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood up. He reached for his armor, each piece infused with protective runes and demonic power. Meiza did the same, her expression resolute. They had fought side by side countless times, their bond forged in the fires of battle.
As they dressed, Kael's mind raced. Since becoming a full demon after rising from the dead five years ago during his battle with the old gods, he had unlocked many of his full demon powers. Among these was the ability to see visions of things happening in other places, a gift that had saved many lives but also haunted him with the weight of foreseen tragedies.
Fully armored, Kael extended his hand, a faint glow emanating from his palm. He concentrated, drawing on his demonic energy to create a portal. The air shimmered and crackled with dark energy, forming a swirling vortex.
Meiza placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "We'll save her, Kael. Together."
He nodded, his resolve strengthening. "Let's go."
With that, they stepped through the portal, the world around them dissolving into a blur of shadows and light. When the disorienting sensation subsided, they found themselves in the forest where Kyra had fallen. The air was thick with the scent of blood and the remnants of a fierce battle.
Kael's heightened senses immediately locked onto Kyra's presence. He could feel her life force flickering like a candle in the wind, weakened but not extinguished. He rushed forward, Meiza close behind, until they found her.
Kyra lay on the ground, her face pale and her breaths shallow. The poisoned arrow was still lodged in her side, and her eyes were closed, unconscious.
"We have to act fast," Kael said, his voice tight with urgency. "She's fading."
Meiza quickly assessed the wound. "We need to remove the arrow and neutralize the poison. This will be painful, even in her unconscious state, but it's necessary."
Kael nodded, steeling himself. "Do it."
Meiza carefully extracted the arrow, her hands glowing with healing energy. Kyra's body twitched slightly in response to the pain, but she remained unconscious. Once the arrow was removed, Meiza placed her hands over the wound, channeling her demonic powers to cleanse the poison from Kyra's body. A soft, dark light enveloped her, and slowly, her breathing steadied, and some color returned to her cheeks.
Kael watched intently, relief flooding his heart as he saw the life returning to his friend. "You're going to be okay," he murmured, more to himself than to Kyra.
Meiza finished her healing, wiping the sweat from her brow. "The poison is neutralized, but she needs rest and further care."
Kael's expression turned serious. "We need to get her back to the Guardian Tower. She'll be safe there, and we can figure out what happened."
Gently, Kael lifted Kyra, careful not to jostle her too much. Kael opened another portal, leading them back to the Guardian Tower . The familiar surroundings of the tower provided a sense of security and strength.
They brought Kyra to a chamber prepared for healing, laying her gently on a bed. Meiza continued to monitor her condition, using her powers to ensure that Kyra remained stable.
Kael stood by the window, looking out over the vast expanse of Vasperia. His thoughts were a whirlwind of worry and determination. "We need to find out who did this and why," he said quietly.
Meiza joined him, her eyes fierce with resolve. "And we will. But first, we need Kyra to recover. She's essential to our fight."
Kael nodded, his gaze never leaving the horizon. "We'll save her and then we'll uncover the truth. Together, we'll face whatever lies ahead."
