Chapter 10: Siren’s Call

10/17/2012

-OLIVIA-

Trapped in a dream

Taking a swim

Waiting for the sun to shine

While the rain is on my side

[Swimming Class]

"FWEET!" ?! I woke up to the sound of Mrs. Gibson's whistle. Uh oh...

"Ms. Utinsky, how gallant of you to sleep in my class." Mrs. Gibson said, pissed. Now I'm screwed. Looking at her face, I know she's going to scold me later.

"I'm sorry, Mrs. Gibson" -I apologized as I bow my head

"Idiot." I heard Lucas snicker at me, who is very much quite 'amused.' Tch. that little devil.

"Okay since Ms. Utinsky knows the lesson too well enough for her to sleep, how about she gives us a demonstration." -Mrs. Gibson said with a smile. My eyes widened. whaaat? I gave Mrs. Gibson a 'what-the-heck' look. I quickly searched for Jo Ginger and Sandra. I spotted Sandra first and mouthed 'what to do? Help me'. Sandra is trying to make a gesture. She mouthed 'swim'. 'Freestyle'. 'Ohhhh, thank you' I mouthed to her with a thumbs up.

"Ms. Utinsky!"-Mrs. Gibson shouted as I hurriedly went to the pool. I dived into the water and focused on Freestyle swimming. I swim as fast as I can and just when I am about at the end and felt-?!

-STEPHEN-

Uh oh… Mrs. Gibson is pissed right now because a certain student was sleeping while Mrs. Gibson was discussing. Thus, as punishment, she told the student to give a demonstration of Freestyle swimming. I recognized that the student was Olivia Utinsky.

The timing was odd and very coincidental because just when Olivia dived to the water, the school announcer paged Mrs. Gibson to the School Directress’ Office at once. So, Mrs. Gibson had to step out and had the Class Representative take charge.

I see Olivia swimming fastly like a mermaid. Woah... she's so fast! my eyes can hardly follow her. I smiled, happy that she's still her.

Right when it's so quick, I somewhat feel like there's something not right about her. Her swimming pace suddenly slowed down and-?! My smile disappeared and I quickly ran to the swimming pool and dived into the water. I swim desperately, trying to save her from drowning. Of all things! She forgot to warm-up.

In a deep, deep sea

Where am I supposed to be?

It's dark and lonely

I swim even deeper, faster. I pulled her out of the water, carried her to the side. I put her back on a firm surface. I kneel next to her shoulders and neck and place the heel of my hand over the center of Olivia's chest. I place my other hand on top of the first hand and start pushing straight down on her chest. I continue pushing but she's still not moving. I open her mouth

"Sorry, Olivia." I conduct rescue breathing

Up! ke up! wake up!

"WAKE UP DAMN IT!" I woke up at the sound of Stephen's emphatic voice. Water came off my mouth. Coughing, I see him. Eyes, I don't understand. Eyes that are cold as ice yet somewhat can be thawed. Then for the first time, I see him. Smiling

"Finally, it took you a long time, Liv." Stephen said as he pats my head. I sat up straight and said "Thank you.", Smiling trying to hide the pain from showing. Great! Just Great. Leg Cramps. Note to self, always do warm up exercise.

Stephen stared at me and suddenly, he gently tried pulling the top of my feet on the affected side toward my head while my leg remained in a straightened position.

"Ouch!" I said to him, "Bear with it. That's what you get for not warming up." He replied.

What a peculiar man. Cold yet caring. After pulling my feet, he became close and ?!-

"What are you doing?" I awkwardly asked him.

"What do you think? I'm going to carry you to the infirmary."- He nonchalantly replied.

Then, he gently put his arm around my back. Afterwards, he puts my arms around his neck and slips his other arm around my legs. He stood up then told the class representative that we're going to the infirmary and we exited the gym. In other words, Princess Carry. I nestled my face to him, trying to hide my blush. Blush either from embarrassment or it's just that a man is carrying me and he is so close, I don't even know what to think!

"We are here, Liv" wait. Liv?

Dear Drip,

My day was so hectic. Stephen called me 'Liv' today. How strange yet somehow...No, Nevermind

Where should I flee?

Please hear my plea

I never wanted to leave

No one would ever believe
