Chapter 25: Shall We Go?

Unbeknownst to Bianca, Dave was far from gentle in the eyes of others. Those who knew him only saw his fierce and malicious side.

It wasn’t until Dave withdrew his hand that Bianca snapped out of it. Feeling a bit embarrassed, she quickly changed the subject. “Mr. Evans, do you know of any affordable apartment rentals near Phoenix Entertainment?”

After all, once she graduated, she couldn’t stay in the school dormitory anymore. And since she had fallen out with her father, going back home wasn’t an option either. So, finding a new place to live was her only choice.

Bianca had been looking at apartments near Phoenix Entertainment recently, but they were all incredibly pricey. Even a small apartment without a private bathroom was going for five thousand dollars a month. And the ones with better amenities were even more expensive. Despite having received some money from her mother, Bianca knew she had to be careful with her finances since she’d have to support herself in the future.

Thinking that Dave might be familiar with the area, Bianca thought he might know where to find affordable apartment rentals.

“Are you thinking of renting an apartment?” Dave asked, surprised.

Though there was a hint of sadness in her eyes, Bianca forced a smile.

“Yeah. My home is far away, so commuting every day is a bit of a hassle. It would be easier if I lived closer.”

“What kind of apartment are you looking for?” Dave inquired.

“Well...” Bianca paused, considering her needs. “It doesn’t need to be fancy. As long as it’s close to the office, has good access to public transportation, and is safe, I’ll be happy.”

Dave nodded. “Got it. I’ll look around. I’ll let you know if I find anything--”

As they talked, a shrill voice suddenly interrupted them.

“Bianca?”

Bianca instinctively looked up and froze when she saw who had called her.

Ashley had spotted Bianca eating by the food truck while driving by. Deliberately stopping her car, she approached to taunt her.

“I heard Dad kicked you out of the house, but I didn’t expect you to become broke so fast! You’re supposed to be the noble daughter of the Scott family, yet here you are, eating at a dirty food truck. How pathetic!” Ashley covered her mouth and chuckled maliciously.

Ignoring Ashley, Bianca turned to Dave and spoke loudly, “Mr. Evans, do you hear that loud barking? It’s really annoying!”

Understanding her hint, Dave chuckled.

“Excuse me?!” Ashley snapped, pointing at Bianca. “Who do you think you are?”

Bianca shrugged casually and replied, “Definitely not a barking dog, that’s for sure.”

“You bitch-!” Ashley clenched her fists, ready to explode in anger, but when she noticed the man sitting beside Bianca, she managed to control herself. Despite his simple attire, he was undeniably the most handsome man she’d ever seen.

Not wanting to make a bad impression in front of him, she simply sneered, “Humph! Your words mean nothing. I can’t wait for the day you come crawling back to Dad, begging for mercy!”

“I’m done eating,” Bianca announced, no longer interested in engaging with Ashley. She set down her spoon and turned to Dave, saying, “Let’s go.”

Ashley had no intention of letting them leave easily. She blocked their path and said with disdain, “Too bad Dad couldn’t care less about you. He didn’t even flinch when you left. When I got back home just now, he took me to a three-star Michelin restaurant for lunch.”

She continued, “Wait, where do you think you’re going? You don’t look like you can afford a car. Need me to give you a ride? Dad mentioned getting me a new car soon, and now he’s given me his Benz.”

Ashley knew exactly how to hurt Bianca. Her words pierced into Bianca’s heart like a sharp knife.

Bianca, who had been struggling to maintain her composure, felt utterly shattered. The sense of betrayal and rejection from her own father weighed heavily on her. Clenching her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her palms, Bianca kept her head held high, determined not to reveal how vulnerable she felt in front of Ashley.

Suddenly, a luxury supercar pulled over right beside them, its engine roaring loudly enough to draw the attention of onlookers.

“Wow! Who owns that supercar? It’s stunning!” exclaimed the onlookers.

Ashley, too, found herself gazing at the car, wondering about its owner. If it belonged to a wealthy young man, she saw an opportunity to flirt with him.

Just as expected, when a young man stepped out of the driver’s seat and walked towards her, Ashley could hardly contain her excitement.

Ashley flipped her hair and approached him confidently. But just as she was about to greet him, the man walked right past her and stopped in front of Bianca and Dave.

“Sir, your car is here.”

It turned out that the supercar belonged to the man Bianca was with! Ashley was shocked.

‘How could someone so wealthy eat at a cheap food truck?’

Dave stood up and offered Bianca a hand. “Shall we go?”

Bianca looked at the luxury car in confusion before taking Dave’s hand.

Ashley’s eyes widened in shock. Who was this wealthy man Bianca was with?!

She clenched her fists, her eyes filled with envy. She wouldn’t let Bianca have anything good, especially not a handsome and rich man. She vowed to herself that she would do whatever it takes to steal him away from Bianca!

Dave guided Bianca to the backseat of the car. It was her first time in such an expensive luxury car, and she felt nervous and speechless.

“Mr. Evans?” Bianca looked uncertainly at the man beside her. “Did you rent this car?”

Before Dave could respond, Zane, the driver, turned around and explained with a smile, “Miss, this gentleman booked this car through an app on his phone. It’s like Uber but for luxury cars. Now, where would you like to go?”

Bianca pursed her lips. “I imagine it must have been expensive to book this car, right?”

“Don’t worry,” Dave reassured her calmly. “I rent it occasionally.”

“Occasionally?” Bianca looked surprised, giving him a suspicious glance.

However, the man remained calm and composed. “As the driver mentioned, this car is from a company that rents out luxury items. I rented many things from them for the engagement party, so they gave me a discount on the car.”

Bianca nodded quietly.

Feeling guilty, she spoke softly, “Mr. Evans, you don’t have to do this for me.”

“What’s the matter?” Dave asked, wanting to bring joy to Bianca but inadvertently making her feel worse.
