Bianca hesitated, “Mr. Wilson, do you... Have any other intentions for me?”
“Intentions? What intentions?” Justin frowned, looking puzzled. Then it dawned on him what she meant, and he almost choked in surprise.
“Don’t get me wrong! Wait, wait! That’s not what I meant!” Justin hurriedly clarified, flustered. “I mean, a friend’s girlfriend is... I mean... Well, you know what I’m trying to say. I have no other intentions for you, I promise.”
“‘A friend’s girlfriend’? What does that mean?”
Bianca looked confused at Justin this time.
“Huh? Oh, never mind! You got it wrong,” Justin said, realizing he messed up. He switched topics fast. “Before Jessica left, she said you should take her job. Since you worked under her, you know what to do. That’s why I’m promoting you fast. But you’ll be on a probationary period for three months. If you don’t do well, you’ll go back to your old job, and I’ll admit I was wrong about you.”
Justin’s tactic did the trick.
