Sun Festival (Part 7)

[EVENT PROGRESS: 99%]

(Alternate POV)

All of this just made him hate fetch quests even more than he already did. Not that he could say no in this situation either, since the last percentage of the quest was basically in his hands at this point. Even if he had to force himself to make it happen, it would happen anyway.

[ [SUN GOD] IS FOLLOWING YOU]

He swore that those words were basically mocking him at this point, they appear more relentlessly than the goddamn warnings he would get when he entered into an area that he was underleveled for. Did he look that stupid?

... Maybe.

He looked over to the man right beside him, their feet not even touching the ground. Walking did not seem like a concept for the God, but he knew that not all Gods and Goddesses could float.

The skies seemed less dark and gloomy, although he could chalk it up to the literal Sun God being right beside him. there was a constant faint glow around them constantly anyways.

He wanted to get this over soon enough, all of this had been grinding on his nerves for ages at this point. He had never once felt so annoyed over the whole situation until now, this was definitely a whole new territory of frustration for him.

'Well, everyone would regret something in their lives.' That thought was not a very effective attempt at comforting himself.

He felt their eyes land on him, then again he was basically brooding so much that the air around him felt depressing and suffocating, somehow managing to bring down the brightness of their light all on his own. Yet, they said nothing outside of just giving him a glance here and there.

He wanted to speak, for once, but he was also stuck on what to start a conversation with.

He was not a conversationalist, Irene had told him that various times before and he had heard it from others. He generally left the talking to others, or sometimes just showed it instead of talking about it.

But having a conversation meant talking, and he sucked at that. He could admit it out loud with no shame.

And he really wanted to say something

What could he even say to the Sun God? Small talk? Terrible at those and would really make him explode and accidentally say things that he would definitely regret later.

"You look like Asura."

It took him a second to realize who made that voice — smooth, soft and gentle, though that lower and rougher pitch made it obvious that it came from a man. He looked over to them, blinking, then taking a deep breath to readjust his emotions before he spoke.

"Yes, I'm well aware I look like him. Heck, I could be his twin."

"... Are you not?"

"... No. I am not."

"Strange. I've been told that if two mortals look almost the exact same, they are twins."

"Uh... that's not how that works."

'Thank you for speaking, Sol. I will be grateful for it as long as you don't mess anything up!'

Asura stretched his arms just after he read the system window.

[YOU WILL BE TELEPORTED TO [SUN CHURCH] IN 5...]

"I guess Dava finally finished that quest. Took him long enough." He yawned, wiping off the tears gathered at the corner of his eyes.

[A CUTSCENE WILL PLAY NOW]

[THE HERO HAS RETURNED WITH ....]

The moment Dava stepped into the church that he swore was empty, he saw Paladin and his men, standing there waiting for him.

[PALADIN: Oh, you have brought back not just the orb, but also the [SUN GOD].]

[HERO: ... Yeah?]

[Everyone in the room (aside from Dava) kneeled at the [SUN GOD]s presence, they scream out in unison,]

[UNISON: PRAISE THE SUN!]

[Though before they could truly celebrate the return of the [SUN GOD], someone familiar walked right into the church.]

[DEMON KING: A reunion without me? How cruel of all of you!]

[PALADIN: You have never been welcomed here, demon!]

Dava stood still on the spot, unwilling to do anything aside from just watching it all play out.

[SUN GOD: Please wait a moment.]

[ [SUN GOD] slowly approached [DEMON KING].]

[SUN GOD: Why did you steal the sun?]

[DEMON KING: shrugs Because I can.]

[SUN GOD: I thought you wanted to dominate the world?]

[DEMON KING: laughs Oh... No. But no, I'm not interested in that.]

[DEMON KING: Buddy, let me enlighten you on how I work, okay?]

[ [DEMON KING] place an arm over [SUN GOD]'s shoulder, pulling him closer.]

[DEMON KING: ■■■■■■■■■■]

"I'm the bad guy, yes. Of course, it's very easy to make me the bad guy."

[DEMON KING: ■■■■■■■■■■■■■]

"However, you have to remember that we all are acting like those villains of the week thing on superhero shows."

[DEMON KING: So there isn't any possibility that I will dominate the world or what not.]

[DEMON KING: I know some people are getting sick and tired of my face but they really only have me as the main villain so...]

[DEMON KING: They will have to make do with what they have.]

[ [SUN GOD] stared at him for another moment, the whole room going silent.]

[SUN GOD: I understand now.]

[SUN GOD: Would you stop me from returning to the skies?]

[DEMON KING: Depends if you're looking for a fight right now.]

[SUN GOD: Is the—]

[DEMON KING: Alright buddy, time to go!]

"Be careful of what you're saying while you're in cutscenes." He winked.

[ [SUN GOD] walked towards the statue, slowly extending his hand out, putting it where the orb was. He felt his powers resonating with it, his body glowing even brighter than before. A bright yellow light blinded everyone's eyes. [DEMON KING] taking the chance to get away from it all.]

[THE SUN HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY RETURNED TO THE SKIES!]

[EVENT PROGRESS: 100%]

[EVENT OVER! REWARDS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED ACCORDING TO CONTRIBUTIONS MADE BY EACH PLAYER]

"They are getting more and more out of control, that's why I told you to not include any new NPCs for the event!"

The short blonde haired woman screamed at another, glaring at the amount of complaints she had gotten from the players due to censoring some of the words Asura had said. The censorship did affect the viewing of the cutscene, even if there was no important information being said anyways.

"Well, I thought we had an agreement on calculated risks." The long gray-haired woman retorted.

"That. Is not what we call a calculated risk."

"It was bound to happen —"

"Why are you in such a rush to tell them all so early?"

"You know the reason."

"We know the reason."

The blondie sighed, looking away from the other, focusing all of her attention back on giving the players an explanation, even if it would just be a generic email sent back to all of them.

"Have you anticipated what might happen if everything doesn't go the way you want?"

"... It will go the way I want it to."

"There won't be 'ifs'. It will go that way because I wanted it to."

"So it will."
