Injured Wolf

I woke up, with the blood of the withering white Wolf it was calling me from the inside of my mind begging me to stay and help. Yet I stood there doing nothing until I felt danger near, and I suddenly woke up startled by that dream. It was blistering cold outside of my lonely cabin since I live in a life of solitude where no one can harm me. I watched as snowflakes looked dead on my windowsill staying there until it decided to melt away, I wish I could melt away. It was bright and early for me as I got dressed, getting ready for the day and ready to collect wood for my living room, it was getting cold on the inside of my lonely cabin.

Once I opened the door, I took a deep breath and headed out into the blistering cold of January's winter, I found myself far from my lonely cabin. As I got to my chopping block, I suddenly heard a howl coming from a wolf, it sounded as if it were in pain and then, I suddenly decided to head towards the sound of the wolf even though it was risky that I might die but then…who will love an isolated girl like me? No one would care, not even to think twice. As the howling got closer, I found myself on the same path as in my dream it was bloody as I remember; the road melted with the warm blood of the animal before me. It was not just any wolf but a White wolf. I realized that it was the same wolf as my dream as well and I checked my surroundings to make sure no one would attack me. Once I was sure I scanned its fury body and followed where the animal was injured; I found it. It was bleeding from its left back leg and as I was about to get closer it narrowed its beautiful blue eyes while its fangs showed me, he was hostile and yet he did nothing. I figured out it was him and so I placed my hands in front of me as I showed it, I meant no harm it bowed its head signaling the 'ok'. Its leg was stabbed by a piece of bark from a nearby tree, most likely to have been looking for its prey to only find a good fighter, yet this poor animal lost just because of its hunger. Soon I took off my cozy winter coat and laid it on the wolf's back as I began to say,

"I am going to carry you back to my home and I need you to not move…Can you do that?" It was strange asking a wolf's permission when you know it will not do you any harm but hey you never know. I wrapped my arms around the injured white wolf and started to struggle carrying him at first but then, it was good that he only yelped in pain trying to get away, but I hushed him, "No worries, mama is here. Shush."

I then began humming a tune from my favorite Disney movie Mary Poppins with the song Feed the Birds. Then I felt his warm body warming me up as I smiled at him as he was sleeping in my arms. It took me a while to get back and when I did, I went towards the door and pushed it open almost startling the injured wolf as we got inside, I closed the door and took a moment to welcome the warmth of my lonely home. I went towards the living room where the fire was burning in the fireplace crackling wood so I would be warm and safe. I left the Lone Wolf alone as I went to get some medical supplies and wet warm towels, it took me a while, but I managed all too well. I was about to enter the living room when suddenly the wolf started whimpering in pain and cold I came closer and told him, "I'm here with the supplies you might need, and I hope you could bite this for me."

The White Wolf only looked away and let me start by taking out the branch. I had to hold him down as I slowly took out the branch it yelped and growled ready to pounce but I kept pulling until it was fully out more blood started pouring out from the wound I pressed the wet warm rag and patted it as I poured some anti-biotic liquid that will disinfect the wound, while I started wrapping his injured leg and there the wolf wriggled its way out of my hands and started wobbling to the ground with its wound bleeding out the wooden floor. I jump a kilometer away from the wolf startled by his movements and once he calms down, he notices the bandage I gave him he begins limping towards me as he begins sniffing me checking if I am a threat which I might add I am not.

As he notices me with the warm rag with some of the infected blood, he looks at the branch next to me grabs it by its mouth, and throws it at the fireplace making the room get even warmer than before. He came back to me, now in front of me, and it began to bark at me as if trying to tell me something, yet his furry body told me he was grateful for the kindness I'd shown him. He gave me a bow that most people do not often witness these days and so I bowed in my sitting position. I leaned my head forward then, raising back up I saw a handsome man before me he was wearing white fur around him mixed with his tanned skin shining by the window behind him he was strongly built into a god of some sort because I didn't know what to do but stare at his light blue eyes that sparkled along with the fireplace of the room he had brown leather pants with a bit of white fur on his ankles yet one of them was covered with the bandage I gave to the wolf. But then, I realized that as I was bowing, he transformed. He was topless. I won't lie until he speaks, with the huskiest voice I've ever heard.

"I thank you, kind human. I am forever grateful; tell me what name shall I know you by? For I would like to repay you."

I stare at him in shock processing what has befallen me, and I take a moment to answer with, "My name is Angela and I only wish you safe passage and that if we could meet again someday?"

The wolf/man widened his eyes surprisingly as he was taken aback by her wish saying, "You surprise me, Angela…Very well I will grant you a wish, but we could only meet every 5 years is that alright with you?"

I felt saddened knowing that my time was up at this point, and it might turn him back to another being than himself, so I just nodded and gave him my sincerest smile that I had not shown him in a long while. He was surprised at the same time again that he felt his heart palpitate while his wolf side called unto her to make her his mate, but the kind Wolfman said,

"No worries it may be 5 years, but I am willing to see you even if it is something you will get tired of."

Angela looked at him, saying, "I would never get tired of you… I don't even know your name."

"The name is Henry the White Wolf of the North."
