Chapter 18 Tokyo

"Danni, I won't..." Solano's father looked very displeased that his daughter would choose to trust a stranger rather than her own father.

Chen Yu silently pressed the tracking device, and the strange house appeared once again behind Solano; the originally dissatisfied expression on Solano's father's face instantly turned blank, while Jack subconsciously reached for the weapon at his waist.

It was the same scene again, the slightly open door and the resentful eyes within, leaving Solano's father speechless now.

As the scene on the tracking device faded, Solano's father still seemed a bit dazed, his eyes vacant.

"Let's go, Jack, we need to get there as soon as possible." Chen Yu yawned, having witnessed such a scene, even if Solano's father remained incredulous, he probably wouldn't obstruct them anymore.

Indeed, when Solano once again proposed going to Tokyo and Jack stepped forward to explain, Solano's father agreed without hesitation and promptly had his secretary apply for the flight path.

"Chen, what's this about the evil spirit you mentioned?" On the private jet, as it had taken off, Chen Yu sat on a soft sofa; the plane had only a few seats with spaces left for a dining table and even a small bar.

It must be said, these wealthy individuals in America really know how to enjoy life.

"Sir..." Chen Yu glanced at Jack, who was sitting next to him, and Solano, who was next to Jack, his mouth twitching—why were these two always sitting beside him when there weren't many seats?

And Jack's form of addressing him had changed too quickly; it had been Mr. Chen before, and now it was just Chen.

"Chen, you can just call me Jack," Jack said, waving his hand. He had deliberately called Chen in a more intimate manner with the intention of winning Chen Yu's favor since Chen Yu's help was crucial for solving the issue with Solano in Tokyo.

"All right, Jack, this so-called evil spirit, well, it's kind of a... ghost, but these fellows have more peculiar abilities," Chen Yu recalled some of the evil spirits that the federation used to keep.

Although most evil spirits are very dangerous, not all of them harbor malicious intent towards humans. Some evil spirits have unique abilities that, though they pose a threat to humans, can still be employed to assist humans when used appropriately.

"The one Miss Solano encountered this time seems to be a curse-type evil spirit, but it might also possess some other abilities; we'll only know for sure when we get to Tokyo," Chen Yu glanced at Solano who didn't look too well.

Curse-type evil spirits are absolutely the most troublesome among all evil spirits, as once afflicted by a curse, one either tracks down and destroys the origin of the evil spirit, or has to live forever with a shielding device.

Fortunately, it seems this world has yet to attract the attention of demonic overlords. Some cunning demons deliberately spread the curse of evil spirits to kill through the hands of evil spirits, which can be quite problematic.

Jack rubbed his hands together. Having lived his whole life, although his grandmother was a devout believer, Jack himself didn't really believe in spirits, and his weekly worship was just a routine.

He hadn't expected to be personally involved in such a supernatural event now, the thought of which was somewhat thrilling to Jack, as it seemed to awaken the adventurous genes hidden in his blood.

Solano clutched nervously at Jack's clothes, looking at Chen Yu as if she wanted to say something, but after a moment, she remained silent.

Chen Yu squinted at Solano but said nothing, instead resting his chin in his hand and gazing out at the scenery outside the plane.

[Captain Chen Yu, a vintage aircraft has been detected. Would you like to take over the aircraft operating system?]

Radiance suddenly interjected.

"No need," Chen Yu hastily declined. It would be entertaining to have Radiance control the plane. What next? Claiming the aircraft had developed artificial intelligence?

After declining Radiance's offer, the plane continued its smooth journey towards Tokyo. Although the route had been applied for and the journey was relatively short, by the time it reached Tokyo, the sky had already darkened.

Chen Yu glanced at his phone. It was now 12:32 AM the next day.

"Have we been flying for about thirteen hours?" Chen Yu scratched his head. Now things were settled; today was the day Solano was predicted to die.

"Miss Solano, at what time did that phone call say you would die?" Chen Yu looked back at a weary Solano, fatigued from the long flight and tormented by the fear of a demonic curse, which had significantly drained her.

"I... I remember it was... five in the afternoon?" Solano pondered for a moment before responding, and even as she said it, a glance at her phone caused her such fright that she dropped it on the floor.

Today, this afternoon.

"Five PM?" Chen Yu nodded. He hadn't expected that even the demonic spirits of Tokyo adhered to the witching hour. In the myths of Tokyo, five PM was known as the witching hour, a time prone to encounters with demons and spirits.

Looking at the distraught and trembling Solano, Chen Yu frowned slightly. Something was off with this woman.

It seemed like she was hiding something.

However, Chen Yu didn't pursue it. Human nature can be complicated. Sometimes not asking allows the other person to come forward, but probing could lead to resentment.

So, Chen Yu said nothing.

"Chen, do you think we should rest first or..." Jack yawned. He wasn't feeling too comfortable either. Every time he closed his eyes on the plane, he felt a chilling gaze staring at him, preventing him from sleeping.

Upon hearing this, Solano instinctively tightened her grip on Jack's sleeve, and seeing her reaction, Jack didn't continue his sentence.

"Let's rest first. Don't worry; curses generally don't act until their designated time, plus the demonic power peaks at night," Chen Yu noticed Solano's concerns. She wanted to address the issue first.

But Chen Yu didn't want to go, especially at night when these creatures were most active. He'd rather confront the spirits during daytime, giving them a metaphorical slap to wake them up for business.

Reassured by Chen Yu's words, Solano agreed to head to the hotel.

Jack and Solano checked into the most luxurious hotel in Tokyo City straight away. Chen Yu was also provided a presidential suite. Yet, humorously enough, it took less than twenty minutes for Jack and Solano to congregate in his room after each had checked into their own.
