Chapter 58 Veil and Another Self

Veil knew she wasn't a good child.

Because good children don't see another version of themselves.

"Who are you?!" After covering her drunken father with a blanket, Veil was startled to see a small dark shadow in the corner of the room.

"I am Veil, Veil Marks." The shadow stepped out into the dim light, allowing Veil to see clearly that the person resembled her exactly, but was darker, like when Veil looked at herself in the mirror without turning on the lights.

"Are you... a witch?" Veil was somewhat curious. She had read some fairy tales that mentioned magical mages and witches, as well as little elves, but the person before her was neither an old man with a white beard nor a short-statured elf, so she must certainly be a witch.

The other Veil smiled without speaking, taking out a book from the shadows and handing it to Veil.
