Chapter 4: Making Some Money

In the dorm, there were four people in total, including Lu Yuhang who was on his bed, not fond of talking, and seemingly difficult to get along with, and then there was Li Qiang right beside him, with a strong rural vibe that Chang Hao from the Capital city certainly wouldn't appreciate. The only one Chang Hao found pleasing to the eye was Zhou Yuwen, who Chang Hao always tried to drag off to play cards.

But no matter how much he pleaded, Zhou Yuwen just would not go.

Chang Hao, feeling helpless, said, "Then shall I take Li Qiang with me?"

"Yeah, you guys go ahead, I need to tidy up a bit."

After Li Qiang and Chang Hao left, the dorm suddenly became quiet.

Zhou Yuwen indeed had many things to sort out, such as registering at the school and then collecting the bedding issued by the school, as well as hanging all the clothes he brought.

Actually, Zhou Yuwen's choice of clothes was quite good. Although they weren't branded, they were at least clean and simple, and they used to feel just right when worn. But looking at them now, ten years later, Zhou Yuwen suddenly felt that the clothes he had bought before were too childish, a whiff of the greenness from his freshman year.

Alas, that really didn't suit him, and not suitable for what he had to do later either.

In his pocket, he had a total of 1950 yuan, and then during his outing he had bought some toiletries, and two bottles of Coke. He offered one to Lu Yuhang, who said he didn't drink it.

"No worries, it's on me, don't tell the others." Zhou Yuwen chuckled lightly, tossing the Coke to Lu Yuhang.

Lu Yuhang laughed upon hearing this and didn't continue to refuse.

Now Zhou Yuwen only had seventeen hundred yuan left in hand. Given his usual spending habits, this amount was definitely not enough, especially since it was supposed to last him an entire semester.

The pressing matter now was to figure out a way to make some money.

So, after tidying up everything, Zhou Yuwen headed straight to the shopping mall behind the school, spent five to six hundred yuan to completely refashion himself, spent another thirty yuan to get a barber to trim his hair, and finally bought a pair of glasses with no prescription.

Well, with this new look, he felt much more mature.

It wasn't even afternoon yet, and there were still many students outside the school registering.

Zhou Yuwen approached the entrance.

"Hey, junior sister, are you here to study all by yourself? Let your senior brother help you."

Observing the newcomers arriving alone and decently dressed, Zhou Yuwen immediately greeted them with a smile, proactively offering to carry their luggage.

If it were just an ordinary-looking senior doing this, it would undoubtedly be mistaken by the girls as flirting.

But on looking up and seeing that Zhou Yuwen was handsome and had a very friendly smile,

And considering that Zhou Yuwen chose girls who looked rather ordinary, even if he was really mistaken for flirting, they might be interested in taking things further.

Thirty-year-old Zhou Yuwen, humorous and talkative, helped the junior sisters with their luggage and sent them straight back to their dorms.

He could manage to meet three or four freshmen in one go.

"Ah, dormitory A9? I know the place, just come with me."

"Thank you, senior~"

"No worries, no worries, we're all from the same school, looking out for each other is the least we can do."

"Senior brother, are you guys heading to dormitory A9?"

As Zhou Yuwen politely escorted the junior sister to dormitory A9, a girl actively approached and struck up a conversation with him.

The girl in front of him was between 167-169 cm tall, slim, wearing white sneakers, a pair of black skinny jeans, a loose black T-shirt, stood upright, and carried a backpack while wearing a black baseball cap.

The all-black outfit accentuated her fair skin even more.

Underneath the cap, a pair of large, bright eyes, and luscious lips with a cherry-red pout.

It was someone he knew.

"Yes, are you all just arriving to register?"

Zhou Yuwen continued, asking as Shen Yu came to register with her mother, Liu Man.

Liu Man was a typical housewife who seldom left her own city, so when they first came to Jinling, they were inevitably quite lost.

Fortunately, they met Zhou Yuwen.

Again, an old acquaintance from a past life, Zhou Yuwen immediately said, "Then, just follow me."

"Auntie, here, let me hold that," Zhou Yuwen was enthusiastic, polite, and also good-looking, dressed in clean beige trousers paired with a white T-shirt, and his height over 180 cm provided a reassuring presence.

"No, no, I can manage it myself," Liu Man didn't like to bother others, especially since Zhou Yuwen already had quite a bit of luggage himself.

"It's no trouble at all. We're all from the same school, and it's only right to help each other. Auntie, don't be polite with me."

In this wave, Zhou Yuwen took five junior school sisters to the dormitory.

On the way, Zhou Yuwen acted as a guide and began introducing the school's local culture to the younger students. "Our school, though not very large, is primarily focused on agriculture, so we have a particularly wide variety of plants."

Look, over there they've planted some Prunus serrulata 'Tokyo Twilight.' Come March when they blossom, it's really beautiful, and you can come here to take pictures.

"That row over there is called Malus halliana. You all came too late. By next March, you will see that among the surrounding schools, ours is the most beautiful."

There is also Acer palmatum, Liriodendron chinense, and that tree which branches skyward is called Pentadiplandra.

"Wow, big brother, you know so much."

"Not really, these are all subjects we have to study in horticulture; you will need to learn this if it's your major too."

Zhou Yuwen, leading at the front, kindly and politely introduced the school to the new school sisters. Shen Yu followed behind her mother, Liu Man, staring ahead at Zhou Yuwen with wide eyes, lost in thought.

Freshmen, upon meeting such a tall, handsome, and cordial senior, often harbored some fantasies.

"By the way, junior sister, are you still using your hometown's mobile phone card?" When the conversation seemed sufficient, Zhou Yuwen dropped the act.

"Ah, yes, but I've actually stopped using it and planned to get a new one here," she replied.

"Then you might as well get it through me. You'll definitely need broadband at school. I offer a mobile card for 150 yuan, which goes directly onto your card, plus a free smartphone and a 20m broadband service."

"That sounds like a good deal!"

"Yes, it is. It's back-to-school season now, so the promotions are great. If you decide to get a card, you can add me on QQ," Zhou Yuwen said.

"Then, I'll think it over, big brother. Let's first connect on QQ."

"Sure, sounds good."

And so, Zhou Yuwen added contact information for one of the junior sisters.

"Big brother, how much is the monthly fee for this mobile card?" another junior sister asked.

"There are three tiers, 29, 59, 79. Let's first connect. I will drop all of you to the dormitory first, and then you can discuss it with your roommates since I think it would be more cost-effective for one of you in the dormitory to get a broadband card, as some specialized courses will definitely require internet. Here, this is the flyer for you to check out."

Zhou Yuwen said, handing over the flyer he had just gotten from Chen Wan.

"Wow, it's written so clearly,"

"Yes, look, it has detailed information here. The 29-plan only offers two hours of broadband per day, the 59-plan six hours, and the 89-plan all day. I personally recommend you get the 59-plan for your dormitory since you're girls and probably don't have a high demand for internet."

"Hey, big brother, why is the phone number scratched out here?"

"It was a mistake during printing. This handwritten one is my number. You can just call me directly."
