By the third week of military training, most people had gotten used to its pace. Although it was tiring, they indeed experienced a different kind of life. Every morning at seven o'clock, as the assembly bugle sounded, countless students hurriedly got out of bed, got dressed, and made their beds.
Then, they were sunbathed under the sun for half the day.
By noon, they would swarm into the cafeteria, gobbling up steamed buns and stewed pork with vermicelli.
It's strange to say that these common foods, which they might not even glance at home, somehow tasted extraordinarily delicious during these days of military training.
Especially the white steamed buns, so fragrant that once you bit into one, the taste of flour filled your entire mouth, and you didn't even want to chew it twice before swallowing it right down to your stomach.
