The battle at the fortress gate went as expected—there weren't many attackers to begin with, and they were quickly surrounded and annihilated in a pincer movement. What's noteworthy, however, is that knowing they would die, they bravely fought on and nearly every one of them managed to take down an enemy with them. But compared to the total casualties, this outcome was too costly.
