Wang Ying's house is one of those traditional Chinese siheyuan, with three courtyards and three rows of gray-tiled rooms.
In front of the main gate is a decorated archway, and the Reddy-colored door is embedded with two bronze beast-head rings.
Such a setup isn't something ordinary households can afford—traditionally, this kind of display means the family likely has ancestors who passed the military examination and achieved notable battle merits to justify such adornments.
If the family were part of a lineage of military officials, there might even be two stone lions placed at the entrance. If an active military marquis resides here, then the interior would feature a weapon rack, and the type of weapons displayed would vary depending on rank—the highest being the staff with a blade from the "imperial token weaponry."
