In the third week of "The Hunger Games" release, the movie "Buried," starring Link, gradually ended its run in various major theaters.
The reason for shortening the screening period was the less-than-ideal box office performance later on, dropping from over twenty million each week initially to tens of thousands of dollars per week, and with the summer blockbusters approaching, it was not cost-effective to continue screening "Buried."
The film grossed a total of $68.55 million in North America after a little over a month, with an overseas box office of $43.70 million, amounting to a worldwide total of $113 million.
Compared to a production budget of two million US dollars, the return on investment was as high as fifty times, and it was also named this year's first dark horse by the Hollywood Reporter.
By April, aside from "The Hunger Games," Lionsgate Films had two other movies scheduled for release, "The Cabin in the Woods" and "Complete Pregnancy Guide."
