Do You Think?

Serena leaned back in her chair, her fingers lightly drumming against the table as she tried to piece together the fragments of her life that Edwin had revealed. But no matter how hard she focused, her mind remained stubbornly blank, refusing to connect the dots. It was a strange, almost surreal feeling to learn that so many extraordinary events had happened her life—events she couldn't remember at all.

"Do you think this accident I had…" she began hesitantly, her voice trailing off as she carefully chose her words. "Do you think it might have been caused by the same people who wanted to harm me? The ones who kidnapped you?"

Edwin's head snapped up at that and he gave a sharp shake of his head. "No," he said firmly. "Those people are dead."
