CHAPTER 13

Sophia's P.O.V.

My eyes glittered with shock, upon seeing this ugly scene because in my wildest dream, I would never believe that Melody would ever be seen in such kind of acts.

I looked at her for a few more seconds, while she was still struggling to strangle the policeman and once I was sure that she was the one, I quickly removed one leg of my shoe and threw it on her head. She paused her action and gazed a bit at me. Although, she was putting on a black mask which covered her face and neck. Only a part of her face was privileged to be seen outside.

As I drew close to her, she quickly escaped, through a rope she connected from upstairs. My goodness!, she went up just like the Hollywood action star, ''Spiderman''. Leaving the officer to rest on the floor tirelessly, and filled with injuries which caused him to bleed profusely.

''Are you fine sir?'' I asked the weak officer, as I approached to help him up.

''Not really, please. I don't think I can stand properly again'' He responded.

Truly, he couldn't stand properly because he was heavily injured by Melody who tends to be more powerful and experienced than him in combat.

I lifted him, and helped him on my shoulder to a safer place, out of the room where we were and as we walked, all that we were hearing outside, was different sounds of gunshots.

Also, the smell of tear gasses was perceived all over the mansion and it was then that I understood that our attackers got it hard on us. They seem to have prepared well before coming because they made sure that they littered the entire surrounding with various hazardous chemicals.

Meanwhile, when we reached the supposed hall in the mansion where the party was to be held before the sudden attack, I saw that everyone was already lying down flat. Except for the police officers and our bodyguards, who were making sure that the situation came to an end?

Three hours later, everything calmed down, seeing all our attendants running out of the mansion back to their respective homes. We were all down, as disappointments knocked our peace and thoughts.

I looked at Mrs Jane, my mother-in-law. She was greatly hurt. I remembered her wishing before now that the party shouldn't be observed at a time like this. She wasn't in support actually but because she never wanted to offend her son's wish, she pretended to be in support.

Shortly after the peaceful evacuation of our guests back to their homes, different security agencies started to come over to our place. They came to make investigations but from what I was seeing, they won't be able to get any tangible information because Melody and her gangs left no evidence on the ground.

I'm the only person at this time, who would be able to feed them with the kind of information they would need but before this would happen, I seriously need to think since I was traumatized, due to the previous scenes I saw early today.

On this ground, Anderson was hurriedly rushed to his doctor's hospital, where he would be receiving urgent medical attention. His blood was rapidly flowing out and by this; he was getting very weak by the single minute he lived.

When I looked at him, I felt pity. I knew before now that he wouldn't be able to survive if he should chase his enemies. Something in me has been telling me that I would eventually be the one to save him and his family and that I should proceed with every one of my plans.

Meanwhile, with the kind of plans I have in my mind, I won't like to let him or anyone know about it because, at this stage, I don't want to trust anyone, until I succeed with my plans.

The situation is no longer looking friendly. If these dudes could easily penetrate the mansion of a powerful billionaire that was secured with security men, it simply means that they could even get to my bedroom and patiently wait for me, just like how I saw Melody in one of our rooms, trying to strangle an officer's neck.

''Can you give us a narration of what you saw happening today, Madam Sophia?'' A detective asked me while holding a piece of paper and a pen in his hands.

'' I shall speak, when I'm okay and fit for it. As you can see, I'm been traumatized'' I replied to him because I don't still know whether I should take up cases against Melody or not.

''I honestly understand you madam. Anyway, I shall return soon. Maybe in two days, when your head must have been cool to reciprocate with my demands'' He suggested.

''All right, let's hope so, officer'' I replied.

He quickly left with his team and immediately he left, Mrs Jane came to me that evening, holding a bottle of red wine and two glass cups.

''Tell me how you met Anderson, my son'' She demanded, while pouring wine for us to drink.

I wanted to smile but paused. I wasn't expecting the question from her. What I was expecting was for her to be worried about the just recent attack against her welcome party, but she didn't. Instead, she sipped her wine through a straw from the glass cup, looked up above the sky, and smiled.

''Mum, it's a long story that I will tell you someday'' I answered.

She knew that I wasn't in the mood to answer questions from anyone at the moment, but I think, she just wanted someone to talk to her because her son whom she was so much inclined with, wasn't available.

''You can just tell me the whole gist. I'm listening''.

I was very reluctant anyway because I didn't know how I would start telling her that me and her son, were trying to be blackmailed before we knew each other.

''Let's just forget that topic for now mum'' I suggested.

''You are here through a mistake of your step-sister, and a stupid fiancé'' She said.

''Mum'' I spoke with surprise.

''In fact, your step-sister is a dangerous criminal'' She informed.
