Devil Slayer Bureau

„Why did you even bother with those weak gods?" A beautiful female assistent suddenly appeared right next to the man with the mask. „You are this stores manager after all. You can't always bother with customers that don't even buy anything." She scolded the man. It seems like it wasn't the first time he had done something similar.

„As you know I have the divinity of Wealth and Business. Though it is not very combat-oriented, it is very good at earning money." The masked guy replied in a mysterious tone.

„My Godly Flame has just reacted both the guy and the girl like never before. Those two will eventually be valuable partners. I can't be wrong. I just know it!" The manager didn't bother to explain any further and just vanished from the room. But it seems like this explanation was enough for the assistent as a shocked look formed on her face.

„Where do you want to go next?" Ezequiel asked Marie. Though they did explore some area of the market they hadn't achieved what they came here for. Finding some friend for Marie.

„I want to go over there!" She pointed at the sky, which Ezequiel found somewhat silly, but as he looked up, he realized that there was a flying island above them. How the fuck had he not noticed that until now. There was even a whole ass waterfall falling towards the ground. But for some reason the light seemed to be unimpeded by the giant land of mass above them so there wasn't even any kind of shadow.

It was also at this moment that Ezequiel had noticed that he had never seen any sun. Where did all the light come from and why did it turn dark at night?

That didn't matter to him at the moment though and they simply went towards the center of the market. There a giant teleportation platform stood and many gods entered and exited it every second. Ezequiel guessed that this was probably the way towards the giant island in the sky.

As they stepped on the platform after waiting in line for a minute, they once again felt their surroundings shift.

It turned out that Ezequiel's guess was indeed right and they arrived at the edge of the island. Below them they could see the city stretching for miles, seemingly without any end.

In front them was a giant ancient chinese-style archway in red and black color. There was even a giant signboard just like in Greenwoods Emporium. It read „Devil Slayer Bureau" in red letters on a black background. Very intimidating.

For some reason everything around them seemed to come straight out of a cultivation novel and Ezequiel wondered why the architecture of this place was so similar to earth's but at this moment Marie suddenly ran off straight ahead.

„Hey wait, where are you going." Ezequiel tried to push through the crowd that surrounded them, mumbling excuses at the people he had to push out of his way. Luckily he managed to stay close to Marie.

At this moment she seemed to have arrived at her goal. Another girl that looked to be around her age. The difference was that she had very pointy ears and looked extremely beautiful for her age. ‚Huh, an elf?' Ezequiel wanted to pull Marie back but it was already too late.

„Hi, do you want to play with me?" It seems the weeks of almost solitude had really done numbers on Marie. Usually she was more of an extrovert but not this much. It seemed like she missed her friends from earth.

Ezequiel was always more of an introvert. Not very interested in going out and instead focused on work. Maybe he played some video games in his freetime but even now he wasn't too keen on making friends.

„Huh, who are you?" The elf girl was confused, not being used to such a direct approach she was somewhat overwhelmed.

„I'm Marie, as you can tell, what's your name?" Ezequiel wanted to facepalm but he held back. How would the girl be able to tell your name from looking at you?

„I'm Anna, nice too meet you but I don't really have any time right now. My father…" she pointed at an elf behind her that had similar features and was also extremely handsome. „wants to take me to presentation about the Devil Slaying Bureau."

„Oh that doesn't matter. We can just play afterwards." Marie just kept standing there, smiling at Anna. It seems like she was intent on making the little elven girl her friend.

Both of the girls seemed to be content with this arrangement but that turned the situation really awkward since no one chose to say anything or move somewhere. Ezequiel took it onto him to break the silence by introducing himself to Anna's father.

„Hi, my name is Ezequiel. I'm Marie's big brother and guardian. Sorry for her rash behavior. Usually she isn't like this but we only became gods a few days ago and she therefore doesn't know anybody around here." For some reason Ezequiel simply kept on talking for way too long. On the inside he was already cringing.

He decided to reveal that they were new to the Divine Realm since he noted that there were seemingly many humans from earth all around them. Apparently they were located relatively close to each other.

„No problem. Anna is usually very cold to others so it's nice if she can make a friends. As long as you don't try to get close for her for her talent only." As he said the last words, Ezequiel could feel a clear killing intent emanating from the elf. It seemed like that guy was pretty strong and Ezequiel didn't doubt he would kill him if he tried to do anything to his daughter. „Oh, my names Johann by the way. Johann Eichert."

„Don't worry, we won't approach your daughter for her talent. Aside from the fact that we still don't even know how talented she is, Marie's future looks pretty bright as well. Maybe your daughter is the one who shouldn't approach her for because of her potentialt."

Ezequiel got a pretty good impression from Johann. Though he let his killing intent show, it seems like he really cares about his daughter and her well-being.

At the mention of Marie's talent Johanns eyes lit up. Ezequiel already thought that he might have made a mistake but what the elf said next defused his concerns.

„I'm the head of this branch of the Devil Slayer Bureau. Can you please tell me what subordinate species she awakened? As a sign of trust I will tell you that Anna actually awakened the high-level species elves. If Marie's talent is great enough we can probably even support her."

‚What is this luck? Marie looks for a friend and for some reason it is the owner of the fucking flying island we're standing on right now? But I guess it doesn't matter if I tell him now. This might even gain some benefits for her.'

„Marie has awakened the Marsians as her beginner species."

This is what they had made up beforehand. If someone asked they would say that Marie awakened the Marsians. Those were at the very Peak of the high level species. They were about a meter tall and only had a singular eye and one mouth on their face. Additionally they had a 20cm long antenna on their head. Their skin color was green due to their affinity with destiny. Higher level members could even awaken the fate affinity.

The reason why they decided on such a strong species was that they needed to find an excuse for their fast progress speed and divinity. Marie would most likely gain the divinity of fate or one related to it upon breaking through to the Lesser God Realm. This simply wasn't possible with a low or mid level species.

For Ezequiel they hadn't decided yet since they didn't quite know which divinity he would awaken. Though he guessed that it was likely related to Light as it was the prominent element of his Angel, he wasn't quite sure yet due to their status as a unique species.

„Are you for real?" Johann seemed to be excited to the limit. „You just said that you only became a god a few weeks ago? Then you probably don't know about the Devil Slayer Bureau yet. Come with me to watch the presentation. Afterwards I will make you a proposal and answer all your questions."

Even though Ezequiel and Marie were confused by the man's sudden change in attitude, they still chose to follow him into the giant red and black building in front of them.
