Ezequiel and Marie fell for a few minutes before they could see the ground, so the hole they fell into was at least a few hundred kilometers deep.
Just as they were about to hit the ground, Ezequiel tried to fly, but realized he could not. So, in a last-ditch effort to lessen the impact, he used his divinity to solidify the space around him, effectively slowing his fall.
He thought about doing the same for Marie, but realized that she would have to start learning from her mistakes or she wouldn't be able to get rid of her greediness.
So while Ezequiel landed with the grace of a swan, Marie crashed head-first into the solid ground that seemed to be made of metal.
The entire area they were in was shaken by the explosion as masses of dust and debris rose in great clouds.
After the dust settled, Ezequiel could see a crater several hundred meters in diameter and at least ten meters deep.
