Giving birth

Alex raised his eyebrows and looked at Claire's blushing face with even more interest. Reaching out to touch Claire's leg, he said, "If you don't have any money, you can repay me in a different way."

This time, Claire completely panicked. Her eyes were as flustered as a frightened kitten, and she pushed Alex's big hand away. "Mr. Miller, stop it!" she pleaded. Even though they had spent a night together before, that had been a life-and-death situation.

She wasn't ready to commit to this relationship. Besides, she didn't believe he had no agenda for suddenly marrying her, but she also needed his influence to stay in City A, which is why she agreed to this marriage.

Alex's lips curled into a triumphant smile. "Miss Claire is willing to offer herself to me," he teased, reaching out his hand and wrapping her hair around his finger.

Claire was stunned and quickly pulled back her hair, blushing and scolding, "Mr. Miller, if you do this, then I'm afraid I'll have to regret marrying you and file for a divorce!"

Alex smirked. "We've only been married for a few hours, and Mrs. Miller is already talking about divorce. We are a legal couple; why can't we touch each other?"

Claire was speechless for a moment, blushing as she withdrew her hand. After struggling for a while, Claire went to clean herself up. After doing so, she got into bed and lay down beside Alex, quickly falling asleep.

This was only the second time in Alex's life that he had been so close to a woman. Looking at Claire's sleeping face, he felt no disgust in his heart. Instead, he found himself imagining what their daughter would look like.

He couldn't wait to carry a mini Claire in his arms, but he knew better than to rush things since the latter wasn't really interested in him. But no worries—he had time for her to fall for him. Under her influence and his wishful thinking, drowsiness soon swept over him, and he closed his eyes.

Not long after, Alex felt a weight on his body and a soft fragrance in his arms. He opened his eyes and looked at Claire, who was embracing him, with a helpless expression.

The fragrance from the young girl wafted over, and his Adam's apple bobbed as he remembered the night he had deflowered her. She had been soft and sweet, making him feel even hotter. This night was destined to be sleepless.

The next morning, Claire got ready and prepared to go out. As she was going downstairs, she saw that Alex was having his breakfast. When he saw Claire coming down, his gaze fell on her pretty face—one that would attract any man. "The old man wants to see you."

"Wait, come with me to the Miller family's old house."

His tone was somehow unquestionable, without even asking for her opinion but giving orders. He knew that if he asked nicely and softly, she wouldn't go because she didn't value this relationship much.

"The Old Mansion of the Miller Family?" Claire repeated, stunned, not expecting to visit the mansion so soon. She was a little dissatisfied and sat opposite him angrily. At least they could have given her some time to prepare herself.

Picking up a fork, she speared a small pancake and stuffed it into her mouth.

"Is it delicious?" Alex smiled.

Claire, disdainful, curled her lips and said, "You're too stingy. The pancakes are so small they're not even enough to fit between my teeth."

Hearing this, the housekeeper standing nearby was stunned. He thought to himself, "This pancake uses precious seafood as raw materials and even adds caviar. One piece is worth nearly 10,000 dollars."

The young madam probably swallowed it without even tasting it and then blamed the young master for being stingy? The housekeeper felt a little nervous and carefully observed Alex's reaction. Alex wiped his mouth gracefully and nodded toward the housekeeper.

The butler immediately clapped his hands, and several servants came over with trays, placing more meals in front of Claire before walking back to the end of the table. The butler then said to Claire, "Madam, eat more if you like. The master can afford it."

"Slow down; I'll wait for you in the car," Alex said lazily as he walked toward the door.

More than a dozen plates of these meals were placed in front of her. Was he raising her like a pig? However, each dish seemed to be made of very expensive ingredients.

He really deserved to be the son of a wealthy family, with even breakfast so extravagant. Claire swallowed her saliva, unable to resist the temptation of delicious food, and began to eat heartily. Afterward, she joined Alex in his car, and they headed to the family mansion.

At the Miller family's old house, all the members of the Miller family were present. After Claire and Alex entered the living room, they greeted everyone one by one. Old Man Miller sized up Claire, looked at her, and nodded in satisfaction.

"This girl looks innocent, much better than the other girl from the Smith family," he thought.

"Your grandfather, the Grey family head, and I were life-and-death brothers when we were young," Old Man Miller said. "Back then, your grandfather took good care of me. Now that he's gone and I happen to meet his granddaughter, my Miller family will definitely not treat her badly."

"I heard how your arranged marriage with the Grey family heir was ruined by your sister. Take heart, okay? My dear grandson here will take care of you," the old man said.

"Come here, sit with Grandpa." Old Man Miller waved at Claire, smiling kindly. As soon as these words were spoken, the expressions of several people in the living room changed.

Alex's mother, Emma, looked at Claire, and her eyes suddenly brightened. Her husband had passed away early, and her son had become an unapproachable person who rarely smiled. Emma's life in the Miller family was not easy.
