Edward and Huey - New World

The world pulsated, with colors merging into each other as Edward and Huey tumbled through the twisting purple vortex. For a moment, they experienced weightlessness, adrift in a mosaic of colors. Then, abruptly, their bodies hit slick pavement, and the vibrant noises of a busy city engulfed them.

The sub-body controlling their friend Norvin had given them the briefest of explanations before tossing them unceremoniously through one of the massive portals they had just been standing by.

"Oooof!" Edward, then Huey bounced off the pavement a few times before crashing into a sturdy wall in an alley similar to the one they had first left their own world through.

Reeling from the transition and the crash, Edward squinted at the stark neon lights flickering overhead, casting a glow on the damp surfaces of the narrow alleyway.

The walls surrounding them were plastered with colorful graffiti in an unfamiliar language, and illuminated by pulsating holo-advertisements. They emitted a surreal energy that flickered across their faces. He shook his head, attempting to shake off the disorientation that was starting to envelope him.

Luckily, they had still been transformed into their Kamen Rider Oracle forms before being ditched by the entity that was riding their friend.

Edward's massive frame, decked in the sleek armor of Kamen Rider Buster, flexed as he pushed himself off the ground. Beside him, Huey— normally much smaller, and stockier, but now much taller than normal while transformed into the form of Kamen Rider Blade—scrambled to his feet as well.

They both stretched and decided to release their armored Oracle transformations.

The two men returned to normal, one still massive, the other returning to a little chubster with a boyish face.

Huey, adjusting his bomber jacket hurriedly, let out a whoop. "Whoa! This is kinda awesome, huh? Look at those lights! I feel like I'm in some retro cyberpunk game or something!"

"Focus, Huey, and shut the hell up for a few minutes." Edward snapped sharply, glancing around. His muscular frame crouched low as he scanned their surroundings. The alley was a maze of shadows and vibrant colors, but there was no time to marvel. "We don't know what's out there, so just give me a moment or two to think, okay?!"

Before Huey could respond, the air filled with a guttural roar echoing from the main street beyond the alley's mouth. They turned to see a figure dashing towards them—his silhouette barely visible against the blaze of lights.

"LINO! Get back here, right now...You scaly scum!"

As he drew nearer, Edward and Huey caught their first glimpse: a man with several shimmering green scales on his forehead that glinted under the neon glow, a long tail swished violently behind him. He ran with a fluid grace; waving hands stretched and elongated to push off one of the walls of the alley to adjust his path as he rounded the corner, his limbs bending with an unnatural flexibility.

"I said, stay back! Leave me the hell alone!" he shouted, after exploding into the alley, panic etched on his slightly reptilian face.

For a few moments, Edward and Huey only heard absolute gibberish being yelled. Both experienced a sudden headache that lasted only for a brief moment. It felt as if new information, a lot of it, had just been uploaded into their brains.

They had not comprehended the peculiar-looking young man before, but now they did. They were also able to understand what had been shouted earlier by the voices pursuing the lizard man.

The foreign looking graffiti all around them was suddenly clear to read now too.

Before Edward could process what they could now understand any further, a group of thuggish figures emerged from the street behind Lino, their eyes gleaming with malice. Clad in dark armor with a strange insignia that flickered ominously, they were clearly a gang or organization of some type. One of them brandished what looked like a large caliber gun, aiming it straight at Lino.

"Stop right there, scaly! Hand over what you took!" He demanded, sneering behind his mask.

"That's rich, coming from you!" Lino retorted, his tail whipping around like a snake. "You think you can just intimidate me, furry rat bastard? I haven't done, or taken a damn thing!"

"Uh-oh," Huey muttered, his eyes widening. "This looks bad. We should do something, right?"

"Right!" Edward nodded, determination coursing through him. The loss of Cassie surged in his mind, fueling his desire to protect those in danger. Norvin and Cassie were occupying most of his thoughts, despite them being in a strange new location.

"It's morphing time?" Edward glanced over at Huey, looking over with a small smirk, he then took on an exaggerated fighting pose and wagged his eyes at younger man.

"Not even close dude..." Huey shook his head and rolled his eyes. He had heard many times in the past from Norvin how Edward liked to screw around with the names, titles and catchphrases of Norvin's favorite shows and games on purpose.

"Big idiot...If you're going to say that, it's 'Morphin' get it right."

"Who are you calling an idiot? I'm hilarious, just hurry up and transform."

In unison, they reached for the energy of the oracle totems they had used before. Sparks developed near their hands and their 'totems' landed in them. Huey pushed his buckle towards his waist, the strap shot out and encircled his wide waist automatically, a card sparkled into existence in his open hand.

Edwards large buster sword and book took shape in his hands too.

"HENSHIN!"

Light enveloped them, and with a brilliant flash, they transformed into their Kamen Rider forms.

TURN UP, CARD EMPEROR!

Huey glimmered as he stepped through the large card shaped energy construct that had been projected from his buckle; a burst of purple and white formed the suit of Kamen Rider Blade as he walked through it.

His youthful face was now framed by the sleek helmet, he felt a powerful potency surge through his limbs. The suit changed his short, chubby frame into a taller, lean, muscled figure.

Edward, slightly larger than before as Kamen Rider Buster, radiated a powerful red Pugilist aura, his red eyes gleaming with resolve beneath the helmet that had freshly encased his head.

The two newly transformed men allowed their energy to radiate in waves. Harnessing the fundamentals of their energy was as instinctive as breathing, a benefit of being Oracles.

"Hey! You want to play, huh?" Huey laughed, bouncing on the balls of his feet. "Let's see how tough you freaks are!"

'What is going on with these things?' Edward thought as he observed something unusual about the group that had gathered in the alley before them. Some had tails, while others had animal-like ears of various species protruding from their heads. He assumed that Huey had also noticed it, given that he referred to them all as freaks.

"Armorers!" A member of the group of strange looking beast-men shouted and the rest fell back slightly for a moment, pushed back by surprise and by the force of aura the two C-Grades released.

"So what? There's only two of them, and their auras seem average, not registering any electromagnetic energy at all." The one who had been yelling at Lino reassured the rest of his group.

As the group fanned out in a semi-circle, Edward stepped forward, his fists clenched. "You chose the wrong alley. Wrong day, wrong time, wrong universe. I didn't get to let off enough steam before we got here."

Edward was still livid about losing Cassie earlier, he was going to make sure he cuffed Huey upside the head later for being so jolly already too. For now though, Edward was going to take out his frustration on these armored assailants of the weird looking alien in front of him.

Lino's eyes widened, a flicker of hope lighting up his features. "You're… you're going to help? I might owe you my life, who are you guys?"

"Just trust us!" Edward answered back, his eyes narrowing as he took on a southpaw boxing stance. "Just stay back!"

"No need, evening the odds is more than enough...aren't you going to use that huge blade big fella?" Lino's eyes grew cold and then curious as he took on a fighting stance of his own, while noticing the buster sword slung across Edward's back instead of in his hands.

"For the likes of these losers? Like you said. No need." Edward threw a lightning fast mock combo in the air before settling back into his resting stance.

With that, the men that had been chasing Lino charged, weapons raised, as Edward and Huey edged forward to meet them. Lino coiled his tail, elongating it into a whip to strike back. They created an unexpected trio of unlikely allies—two armored Earthlings and an alien lizard man with strange stretchy powers.

"Hey, chief, why is that one holding up his hands like a fighter instead of using that huge sword armament?" One of the men surrounding the trio looked over to his leader as his comrades rushed forward, confusion in his voice.

None of the armored beast-men there had taken their leaders words earlier seriously, they could tell that the energy being emitted from the three in front of them was weak at all.

"Who cares? He's dead if he gets in between us and the thie-urk!"

BANG!

Before the sentence was fully out of the leader's mouth, Edward's large fist was already planted into his gut, he was sent hurtling backwards and landed in a heap, face first on the ground of the cold hard alleyway.

After hearing the word 'dead' Edward had pushed himself forward with all of his might, moving much faster than any of the men around them had thought possible for a bottom of the barrel 'armorer'.

With their leader sprawled on the ground, gasping for breath through his now cracked mask, chaos erupted within the ranks of the thugs. Edward, fueled by adrenaline and grief, didn't pause to admire his handiwork. He pivoted sharply, eyes blazing with purpose underneath his helmet, and locked onto the nearest thug, a towering figure with a bulky frame and a weapon that buzzed ominously, ready to fire. More menacing, was the large set of horns poking out from either side of his head.

"Get him!" one of the assailants screamed, his voice raw with panic.

Before the large bull beast-man could pull the trigger, Edward was already in motion. He launched himself at the hulking thug with intense ferocity, as if he himself was a charging bull, his glowing red fist aimed squarely at the man's face.

The impact echoed through the alley, sending stars blazing through the horned man's vision. He stumbled back, shaking his head as if trying to clear away a thick fog. That was only the first blow too.

Edward had simply shifted his feet while throwing a solid jab. That was followed up with a cross, then another two lightning fast jabs and an uppercut that lifted the huge body several feet off the ground. On his way down Edward added to the already limp body's momentum with an overhand smash, creating a few cracks in the ground.

"Too slow," Edward growled. He gave the downed bull-man a kick to the side of his flank before turning to find his next punching bag.
