Shen Li slept restlessly, unable to find an exit in the pitch-black space.
Beside her feet lay a corpse, its fresh blood staining her shoes. She stumbled about desperately trying to escape but found that no matter what, she couldn't run away.
"Ah..."
With a shriek from her nightmare, Shen Li's eyes snapped open.
The room was enveloped in darkness, with only the faint glow from the bedside nightlight. An oppressive feeling she couldn't shake almost left her gasping for air.
Soon, the bedroom door opened, and under the dim light, Huo Siyu's figure was elongated.
"Having a nightmare?" Huo Siyu's indifferent voice carried a tinge of concern.
With steady steps, he walked to the edge of the bed and quietly watched Shen Li.
In the darkness, Shen Li, just startled from her nightmare, was like a panicked rabbit, looking lost and without a clue.
"I don't know what I dreamed about, only that it felt terrifying," Shen Li said, subconsciously crossing her arms over her chest.
