A desperate bargain

(Amelia)

The tower where Garret was located was not so difficult to find in this part of town.

The structure loomed above the other buildings, its stone walls almost blending into the overcast sky.

I had never ventured to this side of the city before. It was a place where wealth and power were noticeable.

From the intricate ironwork on the balconies to the polished cobblestone streets that seemed untouched by the grime of the rest of the city As I walked through the streets, I noticed the stark contrast in the people around me.

The men, dressed in tailored suits, moved with purpose, their faces set in expressions of determination or indifference.

The women, on the other hand, were adorned in the finest dresses I had ever seen, their skirts swishing elegantly as they passed by.

Their hats were perched perfectly, and their gloved hands held delicate parasols or small purses.
