"You got a problem with that?" Elijah asks, a menacing twinkle in his eyes.
Jaxon huffs in irritation or embarrassment, I'm not sure which, but instead of continuing the conversation, he turns on his heel and storms off. Even he knows better than to mess with Elijah in public.
"Damn!" Jacob exclaims, smiling at Elijah.
"That was so cool!" Sara squeals, practically jumping up and down. "You're our hero."
"It's nothing," Elijah says, still not moving his arm from around me. "Jaxon just needs to be put in his place a little."
"Yeah, but it's still nice to see him get his ass handed to him," Jacob says with a laugh.
I look up at Elijah and can't help but smile in response to the one that already covers his face. Yet, despite the smile on my face, the feeling of foreboding won't leave my body. My friends like Elijah, but they don't know who he really is. I do.
