Chapter 128 : All Lies

"Please, just listen..." I start, but Grandma Anna cuts me off with a sneer.

"How dare you lie about something like that?!" Her voice is so sharp it feels like it cuts right through me. "How do you take something so innocent and pure as a pregnancy and twist it for your own selfish gain?"

Her eyes are blazing. She's pointing an accusing finger at me as if I'm a criminal.

I try to explain. I stumble over my words, my mind racing to find something, anything to calm her down. "It's not..."

"I will make sure George and the entire family know about this!" Her voice rises to a near shout. Her face is twisted with rage, and for a moment, I'm afraid. Truly afraid. Not just for myself, but for what's coming next.

Panic courses through me. I grab her arm—not hard, just enough to stop her.

"No, please, you don't understand," I plead, my voice cracking. "Don't tell George. Please!"

But she yanks her arm away, disgust evident on her face.
