Valerie's gaze remained fixed on her father, her voice laced with a hint of sarcasm. "I guess the reason I was summoned here wasn't that important after all. Should I just leave, then?" She spoke as if Zoey's words had been nothing more than a gentle breeze, easily dismissed, her focus solely on her father and the unresolved tension between them.

Valerie didn't forget what the Smith family did to her six years ago. Seeing how Mr. Smith had been trying to play into her good book since she arrived, she knew something was amiss.

Valerie didn't extend her revenge to them yet, was not because she was generous enough to forgive them, rather, because she was not in a hurry to start collecting her debts from the Smith family.

Mrs. Smith's lips curled into a sneer, her voice dripping with malice. "No surprise your daughter turned out so ill-mannered, considering the example you set. She's clearly learned from the master of rudeness."
