Chapter 1

The life of a demigod is dangerous; some do not make it to their twenties. Some demigods don't make much of an impact, but some do impact history. One such demigod was named Naruto Namikaze, a son of Athena and the unfortunate outcast among his siblings.

Athena frequented colleges and universities, searching for bright minds to have children with. The Greek Goddess of Knowledge didn't have her offspring in the conventional sense as she swore an oath of chastity, but luckily there was a workaround. Athena mimicked how her birth went, having been conserved in her father's head and birthed when her father split his head with an ax. One such visit led her to the arms of Minato Namikaze, a professor of Asian history and warfare.

Athena and Minato's relationship started professional, but time started transitioning from translating texts to spending time outside the workplace. Athena did not know Minato was clear-sighted; he could see the supernatural mist, including monsters and deities. Minato started to suspect strange phenomena around Athena, such as her ability to communicate with owls and serpents at the zoo. Wanting to confirm his theory, he took the direct approach and asked her, 'Are you a goddess?' Knowing her mortal guise was up, she confessed and said yes; information such as this didn't affect their relationship, and Naruto was soon born. Having familiarized himself with Greek lore, Minato knew the likelihood of seeing Athena again was slim.

Now with a supernatural son in his hands, Minato began to prepare for the eventual monsters his son would attract. The college professor began to surround his house with magical charms and symbols, having learned from his grandfather and father. The beginning years for Naruto were normal as Minato's charms worked, as no monsters could get through. Still, at the age of six, Naruto began First-grade and had to leave the safety of his home.

Fortune shined on Naruto as Hestia, the Greek Goddess of family and the home, was teaching Naruto's class; her responsibilities were less than her family's, so she had time. She also had a secondary purpose, looking for children her more 'active' family members had in their free period. She spotted various monsters prowling around the school, looking at one of the children. She didn't know which kid they were, but after a few days, Hestia got her answer.

A hellhound walked the perimeter until he saw a chance to attack his prey, a blond demigod with spiky hair and blue eyes. Jewels dripped with anticipation for his magical meal, closer and closer to the hound. Still, misfortune showed as Hestia blocked his path. Knowing his prey was lost to him, he retreated, but Hestia suspected the hellhound or another monster would show up again for Naruto. Having been notified that Minato was clear-sighted, Hestia told Naruto's father about the hellhound and other monsters that stalked his son during school. Minato made a dramatic decision that day by pulling his son out of school and teaching him from the safety of home.

Months went by before misfortune struck the Uzumaki household again. Minato and Naruto were out grocery shopping when Minato noticed someone or something was following them at a distance. The predator took his chance when the father and child went to the parking lot to head home. The monster's actual form was a chimera with burning red eyes and an inky black mane billowing in the air. Minato told Naruto to run while he brought out a pocket knife. At first glance, it was an ordinary pocket with a red handle, but the mist surrounding it vanished, revealing a Jian without a guard with a large 'eye' with a gold thread looped through it. Minato didn't know where the thread came from or its composition, but it had the same effect as the Celestial bronze that made up the blade. The mist made it look like Minato was getting mugged, with bystanders calling the police for help, but the police didn't make it in time. During the battle, Minto was bitten by the chimera and died when the venom made it to his heart and destroyed the surrounding tissue.

Naruto was placed in an orphanage, having no known relatives, until someone decided to adopt him. Days would pass until Naruto's godly blood began to manifest. Naruto was reading under the shade of a tree; the book entailed the various tales of Greek mythology, specifically the heroes and gods. The blond orphan found the reason why the public school system censored most of the Greek mythology as it was full of the gods, mainly Zeus, descending from the heavens and impregnating women, willing or otherwise. The two gods he found the most interesting were Hades and Athena. Hades was portrayed as a bad guy because his domain was the Underworld, which shares his name, but he only had two or three tales involving him, and as far as Naruto could tell, Hades stayed faithful to his wife, Persephone, and stirred a demigod of his own. Naruto saw Athena as the more tactical one in the war when compared to her brother, Ares.

The sun functioned as Naruto's light as he read his book when a weird feeling came to him. He thought it was just some bark scratching his back, and when Naruto's hand contacted the tree, its properties changed as the tree began to flatten and wave in the wind.

"What the!?" shouted Naruto before the tree returned to its original state, "what just happened?"

A month went by with Naruto trying to figure out what happened. He tested the ability in secret but still needed an answer. He stopped when the head of the orphanage called his name over the intercom. When he arrived, he saw an Asian couple finishing up some paperwork with the head of the orphanage.

"Good News, Naruto, this nice family decided they wanted you to be a part of their family." said the head of the orphanage with a kind tone, "I know it will be hard to say goodbye to us, but I know you will have a wonderful life with them."

On the car ride to his new home, Naruto began to get a pit in his stomach, but he brushed it off as nerves got the best of him. The new 'family' made it to their home and escorted Naruto near the back; they opened the door and harshly pushed him in.

"The eldest will tell you what your job is," said the 'father' in a harsh and emotionless tone, "do it well, and you won't be disposed of."

Naruto later found out he was the latest victim to the couple; they ran a counterfeit ring and were all on the lookout so nimble hands, and should the children not meet expectations, they disappeared and would later be replaced. The hidden demigod endured hot and harsh conditions making fake shoes and purses for his masters while having to fight for food and a place to sleep in the tiny room he called 'Home.' Naruto's patience paid off, his 'parents' came back to the house black-out drunk and passed out. Using his new skills, he flattened his body and slipped past the door; before he escaped, he used the phone to call the police to prevent anyone else from suffering the same fate.

Luck smiled upon Naruto as he escaped into the surrounding forest before the lights of cop cars rained on his prison. He ran further into the forest and bumped into a girl around his age, followed by two older children with weapons in hand. He would later be thankful for this twist of fate in his story.
