In a bustling city called New London, Dr. Kael Myron was busy in his lab. He was a smart scientist who had built a special machine. This machine was supposed to open a portal to another world. Kael and his friend, Lydia Hayes, were excited to test it out.
"Are you sure this is safe, Kael?" Lydia asked, looking at the machine with concern.
Kael smiled and nodded. "We've done all the tests. It should work."
He turned on the machine, and a bright light started to swirl in the middle of the room. The air felt strange, and Kael felt himself being pulled towards the light.
Before Lydia could say anything, Kael was sucked into the portal. Everything around him went blurry and then went dark.

When Kael woke up, he found himself lying on a rough, dusty ground. The sky was gray, and the buildings around him were broken and old. It was nothing like New London.
"What is this place?" Kael wondered aloud.
As he looked around, Kael saw that the city was abandoned. Plants were growing everywhere, and there were no people in sight. It looked like a world that had fallen apart.
Suddenly, Kael heard some noises—voices and clattering sounds. He followed the noises and soon found a group of people in a ruined building. They looked scared and had makeshift weapons.
"Who are you?" one of the people shouted, holding a wooden spear.
"I'm Dr. Kael Myron," Kael said quickly, raising his hands to show he meant no harm. "I was testing a machine, and now I'm here. I don't know how this happened."
The people looked suspicious. "Another scientist? We've had enough trouble with you scientists. Get him!" they said.
Before Kael could explain more, the group attacked him. In a hurry, Kael used a small device from his bag to create a protective shield. The people were shocked and stepped back.
Kael took this chance to explain. "I really don't want to fight. I need to understand what happened to this world."
A woman from the group, who seemed calm and wise, stepped forward. "We've seen strange things happening here. Maybe you can help us figure it out. But first, you have to prove you're not a danger."
Kael agreed and followed the group to their camp. He hoped that by working with them, he could find out more about this strange, broken world and how to get back to Earth.

Back in New London, Lydia was worried sick. The lab was a mess, and the portal machine was silent. She was desperate to find Kael and bring him back.
"Kael, where are you?" Lydia whispered to herself, looking at a photo of her friend.
Kael's journey was just beginning, and there was much more to discover in this strange world.
