Chapter 193: The Urge to Devour
Seeing Chu Xiu kill the Green Dragon and then rush towards him again left Wang Shanmo's heart pounding and his scalp numb. The Green Dragon, despite possessing a trump card capable of seriously injuring even a peak Little Saint, had been taken down in a single encounter—a fact that left Wang Shanmo stunned and horrified.
"If I had known that the Green Dragon was so unreliable, I would not have participated in this operation," Wang Shanmo thought regretfully, realizing he was no match for Chu Xiu. Without any hesitation, he turned around and fled, only to find, to his horror, that he was being pulled closer to the demon king by the power of the formation instead of escaping.
"Hehe..." Chu Xiu's eyes were bloodshot as he appeared right in front of Wang Shanmo. "You can't go anywhere."
The two faced each other, their faces less than a foot apart. Wang Shanmo felt a chill in his heart, knowing that his chances of survival were slim.
Chu Xiu's long hair moved as if alive, his pupils blood red, a wicked smile playing at the corner of his mouth. He raised his giant axe, which was surrounded by a blood aura, and chopped it down head-on.
Wang Shanmo attempted to dodge, but he was completely locked down by Chu Xiu's murderous intent and couldn't struggle at all. Desperate, he allowed his body's blood-colored smoke to steam up—it was the result of his blood and life force burning together, boosting his vitality in a last-ditch effort.
He raised his palms, which were covered in an extremely tough crystallized tissue, radiating strong energy fluctuations. He aimed to block Chu Xiu's axe with all his might. The palms collided with the axe blade, resulting in a loud clash; sparks flew, and the air around them shook.
An unshakable force transferred from the axe through his palms, into his arms, and drilled into his body, tearing his internal organs and shattering the bones throughout his body.
Wang Shanmo opened his mouth and spurted out blood, flying backward like a kite with a broken string.
Chu Xiu, having undergone a physical enhancement, was no longer the same as before. His ancient holy body had reached a new height, and the power of his terrifying physical body was enough to shock the world. How could Wang Shanmo resist it?
Chu Xiu followed like a shadow, flying over the head of the backward-flying Wang Shanmo. His scarlet eyes lightly stared down at him as he chuckled, "Not bad... You can actually block my random attack. You should be proud of yourself."
Wang Shanmo continued to cough up blood, his pupils trembling. Overcome with fear, he trembled, "You...you monster!! You are definitely not in the Dao Palace realm. Haha, impossible, how can there be a Dao Palace realm like you in the world."
Chu Xiu casually hung his axe behind his back and reached out to grasp Wang Shanmo's neck, stopping his figure in mid-air. Wang Shanmo's eyes widened as he struggled, feeling like a prey animal in the grasp of a predator.
Chu Xiu narrowed his eyes slightly, the bloodlight in them intensifying. A strange feeling emerged in his heart—he actually found Wang Shanmo...appetizing. The urge to eat him was overwhelming.
"What happened to me?" Chu Xiu thought, concerned that this might be related to his recent enlightenment breakthrough. "Why do I feel hungry? I actually want to devour Wang Shanmo..."
This feeling was unsettling.
Wang Shanmo, gripped by the neck, wanted to cry and shout for his mother, to go home. He was so close to Chu Xiu, he could see the hunger in his eyes. Chu Xiu wasn't just looking at an opponent or an enemy; he was looking at...food.
Despite often hearing about monsters eating humans, Wang Shanmo had never heard of a human wanting to eat a monster alive. The realization filled him with dread.
Chu Xiu shook his head, trying to suppress the burgeoning gluttony in his heart. Even if he desired to eat, now was not the time. Too many were watching—it would be too shocking and detrimental to his future plans.
"You are the third little brain to die at my hands," Chu Xiu's eyes dimmed slightly as Wang Shanmo stared back, blood flowing from the corner of his mouth. "Chu Xiu... You are too aggressive, and you will definitely not end well. You killed me today, and someone will naturally kill you in the future."
Laughing bitterly, Wang Shanmo continued, "The Great Venerable will not let you go. The demon tribe and the barbarian tribe will not let you go either."
"Are you done?" Chu Xiu asked expressionlessly.
"Not yet, I—"
Click.
Wang Shanmo's face filled with astonishment, his pupils dilating in confusion and dismay as his head was severed by Chu Xiu, his soul annihilated alongside it.
"I asked if you were done!" Chu Xiu stated coldly. "I didn't say I would let you finish."
Chu Xiu shook his head, collecting the storage ring Wang Shanmo dropped and throwing his body into the Guiyuan to be refined. His plan now was to eliminate all the demons and barbarians before finding a place to retreat and sort himself out, especially to understand this new, disturbing urge to eat people.
