Chapter 195: Heavenly Demon·Ming Yaozi
"Let's wait until she comes out!"
"Hehe, now let's sort out the loot."
After dealing with these two thousand demons, Chu Xiu had made a fortune. First, there were the white low-grade Yuanjing. Wangshan Mo and Qing Jiao combined had about 24,000. The other 2,024 demons, being slightly weaker, could each yield about 8,000 white Yuanjing. That totaled 16 million. Converted into breakthrough points, it amounted to about 32 billion. This didn't even count the benefits from looting, which was about 30 million Shenyuan, exchangeable for another 30 billion breakthrough points.
"I'm rich... Making a fortune!"
Chu Xiu couldn't help but smile as he ignored the pungent smell of blood in the air.
At the entrance of the secret place, a beautiful figure emerged from the light ball. Her divine sense spread out, and she immediately discovered the existence of the formation Chu Xiu had set up. Assuming Chu Xiu was trapped and being surrounded by monsters, she was about to forcefully break the formation when a corner of the light curtain opened.
A pungent smell of blood wafted out, and Chu Xiu's voice invited her in. "Feng Yao, come in."
The Yao Chi Saint nodded slightly but didn't rush in. After probing with her divine sense and finding no danger, her figure flashed into the formation, which closed swiftly behind her.
She looked up at Chu Xiu, who was sitting cross-legged thousands of meters away, in a seemingly empty formation littered with shocking pools of blood. Without asking, she could guess what had transpired.
She flew slowly towards Chu Xiu, her tone gentle. "You are getting stronger and stronger. If it were me surrounded and under attack, I might have only managed to escape, but you... you managed to leave none behind."
Chu Xiu grinned, his tone half-joking. "Are you about to fall in love with such a powerful me?"
Typically, the Yao Chi Saint Maiden wouldn't refute or cater to his narcissism. She simply flew to his side, and Chu Xiu grabbed her hand.
"What are you doing?" she asked, not pulling away but looking at him with calm, watery eyes.
"Conducting an experiment," Chu Xiu replied as he raised his index finger, which emanated true essence to form a thin blade, and gently cut her fingers. A few drops of crystal-clear blood spilled out.
Chu Xiu watched the blood intently, noticing after a long pause that he had no desire to devour the blood and flesh of the human race, just the demon and barbarian races. This discovery led him to wonder why this was so. What could he gain from devouring demons and barbarians? Cultivation? Magical power? Could he also devour beings from other races?
"No, I must find a chance to test this theory," Chu Xiu mused, lost in thought.
Noticing his distraction, Yao Chi Saint asked softly, "What's the matter?"
Chu Xiu snapped out of his reverie, released her hand, and patted the ground beside him, signaling her to sit and discuss his plan. He was unafraid of her leaking any secrets.
Yao Chi Saint looked at him, puzzled yet intrigued by the boldness of his scheme.
"Do you want to do it?" Chu Xiu asked, an impish glint in his eyes.
After a moment's hesitation, she nodded, her innate Taoist body giving her the unique ability to blend and conceal heavenly secrets. "If it goes according to your plan, it should work."
"Then let's hurry. We don't want the Butterfly Emperor's daughter catching on to us using her to strike at her mother. It's cruel, but remember how many mortals died in the demons' blood sacrifice? Or when Die Zun led the attack during my holy body tribulation? They're the real cruel ones."
Yao Chi Saint understood and didn't protest further. They quickly prepared, setting the stage for a devious plot that depended entirely on fate for its execution.
An hour later, the formation opened, and two axes flew back into the hands of Die Die, who was none the wiser of the seeds sown for her imminent downfall.
Soon after, other human cultivators arrived and entered the second secret place with Chu Xiu and the Yao Chi Saint, leaving behind the absent Holy Son of Yaoguang, Bai Susu, Ye Fan, Ye Hongyu, and others, who were likely finding their own fortunes elsewhere.
Chu Xiu and the Yao Chi Saint Maiden did not linger. They moved on, crossing into the second trial space, ready for what lay ahead.
