Chapter 198: Only Yaoguang is Being Beaten; Chu Xiu's Prospects
Three days later.
In a secret location within the Void Giant Tree, near the entrance to the second trial space, a dramatic scene unfolded on a huge leaf. The environment was picturesque: mountains rolled in the distance, streams babbled, and the air was filled with the songs of birds among blooming flowers.
"Ai Kun, are you certain that the Holy Maiden Tai Su is here?" inquired a black ape, standing behind a red-beaked chicken monster, leading a group of over 300 diverse creatures.
The second trial was notoriously difficult; to date, fewer than five individuals had succeeded in overcoming it. Consequently, many challengers had forsaken the trial, opting instead to explore around the Void Giant Tree for alternative fortunes. Ai Kun's band of monsters was among these groups.
The black ape, imposing and robust, breathed out hot white air from his sunken nostrils. His fur, stiff like steel needles, bristled with aggression. Clutching a four-meter-long, bloodstained black iron rod, he exuded menace—a testament to the many lives claimed by his weapon.
Ai Kun, surveying the crowd of over three hundred demons, flashed a knowing smile. "Don't worry, the Saint of Tai Su is indeed here. A member of my tribe saw her with his own eyes... We are absolutely certain."
"Hehe," the black ape chuckled darkly, raising his iron rod. "Brothers and sisters, a large number of our kin fell to the Saint of Tai Su of the human race. Though he has ascended beyond this level, we can still strike at his peer, the Holy Maiden Tai Su. Find her, capture her, and make her suffer..."
"Then present her suffering to the Saint of Tai Su. His reaction will surely be a sight to behold. Now, let's go—kill, kill, kill!"
The demons roared, their eyes ablaze with fury.
Ai Kun watched the scene unfold with a trace of disdain. These fools dared to seek revenge against such powerful beings, completely oblivious to the consequences they would soon face.
After organizing themselves under the leadership of several elite demons, the group dispersed to hunt for their target. However, their actual encounter was not with the Saintess Taisu as they had anticipated, but with the Saint of Yaoguang.
At that moment, Yaoguang was meditating on a mountaintop, facing a stone wall intricately carved with a landscape depicting flowers, birds, fish, insects, expansive mountains, and cascading waterfalls. The Tao resonated around him, the essence of the Dao flowing freely.
"What magical power," he murmured, his eyes gleaming upon opening. "This bears the essence of the Saint Body Vision. Could it be that a great sage once replicated the Saint Body Vision to create this technique?"
Cheered by his discovery, Yaoguang was about to delve deeper when a potent divine thought washed over him, alerting him to the presence of hundreds of demons surrounding his mountain.
Frowning, Yaoguang sensed their murderous intent. Despite his recent arrival and the untapped secrets of the magical wall before him, he was now forced into confrontation.
Ai Kun, the chicken demon, stood at a distance, clearly not intending to engage in the fight directly.
"Hei Mo, that's the Holy Son of Yaoguang up there... do we proceed?" a giant lizard asked the black ape, its voice low and gravelly.
The black ape, expression unreadable against his dark visage, nodded grimly. Despite sensing the danger, retreat was no longer an option.
"Yaoguang is also a Holy Son. Attack first, set up the formation," he commanded loudly.
The demons moved swiftly, deploying formation flags and plates to ensnare and overwhelm Yaoguang.
"Hmph, no matter his strength, here in this sacred place, his powers are limited. Could he possibly surpass Chu Xiu?" muttered Yaoguang as he stood, the formation's light curtain slowly enveloping the mountain.
Leaping down, he stood poised on an ancient tree, surveying the encroaching enemies with a cold glare.
"You seek death..."
The battle erupted as Yaoguang, fueled by both fury and desperation, clashed violently with the horde of demons. Magic and weaponry clashed chaotically, shaking the very earth, splitting streams, and collapsing mountains.
Despite the overwhelming odds and his suppressed strength, Yaoguang's formidable power shone through—he was not easily bested.
Meanwhile, Chu Xiu observed the fray from a distance through a crystal mirror, displaying the live feed of the battle.
"Yaochi," he spoke to the Saint beside him, "this group won't be enough to force Yaoguang's hand."
She replied, assessing the situation, "You're not aiming to kill him, are you? Just to hinder his progress."
Chu Xiu smirked, his eyes reflecting a strategic mind, "Exactly. Killing him outright is too simple. It's better to toy with him, slow him down."
As the Saint of Yaoguang ultimately broke free, killing half the attackers and escaping the formation, Chu Xiu prepared to make his move, a darker scheme in mind.
"Good night, everyone," he murmured, turning away from the battlefield, his thoughts already racing towards the next phase of his grand design.
