072. Ye Manman V/S Song Youzhen

Su Yan received a call from Ye Manman.

"Hey, Aunt Ye."

"You naughty boy, you haven't even called me. Do you know how much Aunty misses you?"

Her voice was playful, yet it carried a sense of affection. Su Yan couldn't help but smile at her words.

"I just came from Okushima the night before."

Only then did Ye Manman realize how empty her life had been without him around.

"You're back from Deep City?"

"Yes, I plan to visit you soon. Are you busy?"

"I'm planning to head to Yancheng."

"I see, you have business to attend to, so you might not have time to see Auntie," Ye Manman teased.

Though Su Yan knew she was jesting, he also understood that business always came first. His body's influence was strong, but without money, one's standing wouldn't last. He needed to ensure his livelihood first.

"Xiaoyan, are you going to the Olympics Bidding?"

"Yes."

Ye Manman had her own matters to attend to, but when she thought about spending time with Su Yan, a flood of memories washed over her—like the time Su Yan dominated the casino on Oudao Island or knocked out Liu Changgeng. A surge of excitement welled up within her, a thrill she hadn't felt in a long time.

Hearing this, Su Yan gave it a moment's thought. Taking Ye Manman with him wouldn't be much of an issue, and they'd have some time together in the evenings.

"Aunt Ye. Come meet me this afternoon."

"You cheeky boy! Should Auntie bring some clothes?"

"No need for clothes, Aunt Ye. Just bring the black silk stockings."

"Ah, Auntie hasn't worn those in ages! I'll go buy a pair now," she said with a laugh.

After chatting for a while longer, Ye Manman happily went off to purchase stockings, feeling a youthful excitement she hadn't felt in years.

At three o'clock in the afternoon, Su Yan received a surprising call—it was from Song Youzhen, the mother of his former class monitor, Liu Hua.

"Aunt Song, long time no see."

"Xiaoyan, has Ye Manman been in touch with you?"

Su Yan raised an eyebrow. How did Aunt Song know about that?

"How did you know?"

"I'm heading to Yancheng on business too. And I heard Aunt Ye is going with you."

Su Yan couldn't help but be impressed by how perceptive Song Youzhen was.

"You guessed right."

Though her tone remained calm, Song Youzhen felt a pang of jealousy. Every time Su Yan returned, Ye Manman would be the first to seek him out, not her. She still remembered that day on Okushima when she had hoped to meet him, but once again, Ye Manman had beaten her to it.

"Just as I thought."

A hint of bitterness slipped into her voice, though she quickly hid it. But her curiosity was piqued—what kind of "small business" was Su Yan attending to, anyway?

"Aunt Song," Su Yan said with a grin, "I'm headed to the Olympics. You're welcome to join us if you'd like."

Without a moment's hesitation, she agreed.

"Alright, Xiaoyan. I'll pack up and head over."

After hanging up, she hurried to her room, rifling through her wardrobe for her most flattering and elegant clothes. This time, she was determined to present her best self in front of Su Yan.

As she was about to leave with her suitcase, her son Liu Hua noticed her and asked, "Mom, where are you going?"

"Just something I need to take care of."

The aloofness in her tone signaled to Liu Hua that she wasn't in the mood to explain, but as he watched his mother's figure disappear, a strange sense of unease crept into his heart. It felt as though he was losing something important, but he couldn't put his finger on it. [T/N: Someone forge a greenhat for this guy.]

Su Yan was already waiting at the airport when Ye Manman arrived with her suitcase. She spotted him instantly and rushed over, embracing him tightly.

"Xiaoyan, you naughty boy. Auntie missed you so much!" she exclaimed, planting a kiss on his cheek.

Su Yan hugged her back, a smile tugging at his lips.

After they let go, Ye Manman urged, "Come on, let's get going."

She was already imagining how their time together in Yancheng would go, anticipating the moments they'd share. But Su Yan stopped her with a chuckle.

"Hold on, Aunt Ye. There's someone else joining us."

"Someone else? Who?" she asked, clearly surprised.

Just as she spoke, a taxi pulled up in front of them. Stepping out was none other than Song Youzhen, dressed all in black, exuding an elegant aura that made her look like a high-society lady.

"Xiaoyan," she greeted with a warm smile.

"Aunt Song," Su Yan responded, his expression one of polite surprise.

Ye Manman's eyes narrowed slightly as she saw Song Youzhen. A sinking feeling washed over her, and she instinctively sensed that something wasn't quite right.
