The days following her signing the contract were a blur. Anna moved through the mansion on autopilot, the weight of her decision pressing down on her with each passing hour. She had told herself it was just a piece of paper, just a formality. But deep down, she knew it was more than that. She had sealed her fate, bound herself to Luca in a way she couldn't escape.
And yet, the strangest thing happened. The more time she spent with him, the more she started to question herself.
Anna was no longer sure whether she hated him or needed him. Every time he looked at her, every time his fingers brushed against her skin, the pull between them became stronger. It was a dangerous game, one she wasn't sure she could win, but she couldn't stop herself from playing.
Luca had been uncharacteristically quiet after the contract was signed, his presence still looming over her but without the usual taunting and control. It was as though he was waiting for something. She could feel his eyes on her when she moved through the house, but he said little, observed much. The silence between them felt thick, heavy, and Anna couldn't shake the sense that something was coming—something big.
One evening, as Anna was walking through the hallway, she caught sight of Luca standing at the top of the stairs, staring out the window. There was something different about him tonight. His posture was tense, his jaw set. The usual power and confidence in his stance were gone, replaced by something that seemed almost… vulnerable.
It was a side of Luca she had never seen before, and it unsettled her.
She didn't know what compelled her to move closer, but before she realized it, she was standing at the bottom of the stairs, looking up at him.
"You're quiet," she said, breaking the silence.
He turned slightly, acknowledging her presence but not fully meeting her gaze. "I'm always quiet."
"Not like this."
Luca finally met her eyes, the weight of his gaze causing her breath to catch. There was a depth in his stare, a flicker of something raw—something human—that she hadn't seen before.
"I'm not sure what you want from me, Anna," he said quietly, his voice a little too soft, a little too vulnerable for someone like him.
Anna swallowed, her pulse quickening at the uncharacteristic shift in his demeanor. "I don't know what I want either," she confessed, her voice shaking slightly.
There was a long pause between them, an almost palpable tension that filled the space. Anna didn't know how to respond. She had no idea what this moment meant or why she felt compelled to be near him.
Luca broke the silence first. "You know, you signed that contract without knowing what it really means."
Anna nodded, her heart pounding as she waited for him to elaborate. She wasn't sure if she wanted him to explain it or if she was afraid of the truth.
"You think this is just about control," he continued, his tone colder now, more distant. "But it's more than that. This is about trust. About power. About letting go and giving yourself to someone who understands what you need, even when you don't."
Anna's stomach fluttered at his words. It wasn't what she had expected. She had thought Luca was all about dominance, about making her submit. But what he was saying now was different. It was as if he wasn't just playing with her—he was trying to make her understand something, something she wasn't ready to hear.
"What do you mean?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.
Luca took a step down the stairs, closing the distance between them. His gaze never wavered from hers, his presence overwhelming. "You're mine, Anna," he said, his voice low, intense. "But I'm not just taking something from you. I'm giving you something, too."
Anna's heart skipped a beat, her breath catching in her throat. She didn't know what to say, didn't know how to respond to him, not now. His words—his intentions—seemed to contradict everything she thought she knew about him.
Luca moved closer, his fingers brushing her cheek gently. The warmth of his touch sent a jolt of electricity through her, and she couldn't help but lean into it, even though every rational part of her screamed for her to pull away.
"You think you're the only one playing a game here," he murmured, his lips hovering just above hers. "But you're wrong. We're both in this together now, Anna. You don't get to walk away anymore."
Anna's chest tightened. She knew he was right. There was no turning back. She had signed her name, bound herself to him in a way she hadn't fully understood until this moment. And as much as she told herself she was in control, she wasn't.
She was falling into his world, piece by piece, and she didn't know how much longer she could resist.
"Why do you keep doing this?" she asked, her voice shaking, though she didn't know if she was asking him or herself.
Luca's lips curled into a smirk, his fingers trailing down the side of her neck, sending shivers through her. "Because you want it too."
Before she could respond, he pressed his lips to hers in a kiss that was both soft and demanding. The world around them seemed to blur, the only thing she could focus on was the heat of his touch, the pressure of his lips against hers. For a moment, she lost herself completely, letting him pull her into his world, her heart racing in response to the feelings she couldn't deny.
But when he finally pulled back, leaving her breathless and craving more, he whispered, "You're mine, Anna. Don't forget that."
And with that, he turned and walked away, leaving her standing there, heart pounding, mind racing, and no idea what the next step would be.
All she knew was that she couldn't stop this.
She wasn't sure if she wanted to.
