23. Cleria Belial Incident.

"Cleria Belial, you have crossed some boundaries that shouldn't be crossed. Now, you have to forfeit your life to pay the price for doing so."
The black-haired man in charge of this operation declared with a haughty expression, his voice dripping with superiority.
As he talked, the Devils that came along with him were not idle either.
They spread out slightly and began enacting barriers that covered the entirety of the Park, to prevent mundane humans and others from interfering with their tasks.
The barriers also helped them detect the area within it and determine if there was anyone other than the target present or if she had set any trap for them.
Of course, their spells weren't strong enough to detect Meliodas' presence.
Seeing that Cleria wasn't responding, the man continued, "However, Lord Bael is a generous man. He has given you a chance to walk out of this alive.
"You see, Lord Bael has taken a liking to you and your Clan Trait. For that reason, if you submit yourself to Lord Bael and agree to become his concubine, your life will be spared.
"So, what do you wish to do, Cleria Belial? Submit and save the life of your Peerage Members and yourself? Or…"
"Ara~ You have quite the confidence in your and your minion's capabilities it seems. Let's see if you have the capability to back that confidence, yeah?"
While it seems like Cleria was completely relaxed and unperturbed on the surface, she was just hiding her panic and worry.
'Shit! I didn't think they would target my Peerage Members too. I should have sent them to the Underworld before coming here.
'I have to take care of these guys fast and go back to my mansion. I hope nothing happens to them until then.'
With these thoughts running through her mind, Cleira didn't hesitate to make her move first.
Summoning a magic circle, she cast a spell and in the next moment, the area within the barriers was shrouded in a greenish-white tint.
The lead Devil was alarmed seeing the speed at which Cleria's spell took effect. He swiftly summoned his own magic circle while shouting, "What did you do, you ungrateful wench?"
"What didn't you find out by yourself?"
Cleria's playful answer only infuriated him further as he shoved his hands towards her while shouting, "Attack!!"
Multiple elemental attacks of varying strength were unleashed by the five Devils.
However, before the spells could half the distance between the casters and Cleria, they vanished out of existence.
"I- Impossible!" The lead Devil exclaimed while taking a step back in fear.
According to the Great King Faction's information, Cleria Belial was just an average High-Class Devil with limited mastery of her Clan Trait, Worthless.
She wasn't supposed to be able to render the abilities of an Ultimate-Class Devil like himself, not to mention successfully using Worthless on multiple attacks at the same time.
Upon noticing that the others have also stopped attacking, he shouted while composing himself, "K- Keep attacking, you idiots! She won't be able to keep rendering our attacks useless for much longer."
With that declaration, they started casting spells at Cleria with renewed energy.
However, no matter what spell they used, all of them fizzled out of existence before crossing the halfway mark between them and Cleria.
This continued for a few minutes before the lead Devil issued another order, "Pawns, use Queen Promotion and attack her physically with me!
"Rest of you prepare to take her down while she is distracted!"
"Promotion: Queen!"
"Promotion: Queen!"
Receiving the orders, two of the other four Devils chanted while holding a badge-like item in their hands.
Two apparitions of yellow-colored Queen Pieces appeared over them for a moment, causing their aura to grow more powerful.
The next moment, the lead Devil, along with the promoted Pawns, shot forward, rapidly closing the distance between them and Cleira.
Cleria wasn't the least bit bothered by this development. She ignored the Pawns closing on her from the sides and focused on the lead Devil.
Once he was just a few steps away from her, she stepped forward to meet him head-on.
Her opponent, although surprised by this, didn't hesitate to throw a strike toward her face which she easily dodged and retaliated with a punch of her own.
With Cleria's superior strength and speed, he didn't have any chance of defending as her fist connected with the lead Devil's face, breaking his nose and sending him flying back to his previous location.
The two Pawns attempted to stop their charge, however, it didn't matter because Cleria closed the distance between them.
Boom—! Boom—!
They couldn't do anything to resist as she grabbed their faces and slammed them into the ground, creating two massive craters.
Following the lead Devil's orders, the other two Devils were making preparations to cast their strongest spells, pouring all their remaining Demonic Power into their magic circles.
Just as Cleria buried the Pawns head first into the ground, the two of them released their spells, indifferent to the fact that their allies would also get caught in the attacks.
Two massive waves of fire burst from their magic circles, forming into the shapes of eastern dragons before hurtling toward Cleria.
However, with only a glance from Cleria, the fire dragons ceased to exist.
Then, she extended her right hand, her palm facing the two Devils, and summoned a magic circle.
With their Demonic Power exhausted, the two of them could only helplessly shield their face with their hands as a blast of pure Demonic Power hit them, rendering them unconscious.
With the mooks taken care of, Cleria started walking toward the leader who was slowly getting up now.
Fear and hatred could be seen on his face as he shouted, "Y- you!! Stay away from me. I am the Queen of the Lord Bael. Yo- you will face a fate worse than death if you kill me."
"Fufufu~!!" Cleria let out a small chuckle after hearing his threat, "You don't even know how to properly beg it seems."
All his bravado fled him as he stepped back. He unfurled his wings, attempting to take flight and run away, only for Cleira to catch him by his neck in the next moment.
Squeezing his neck harshly, Cleria whispered in a low voice, "Consider yourself lucky I have to check on my Peerage as soon as possible.
"Otherwise, I would have taught you how to properly plead for your life."
The next moment, she chokeslammed him on the ground, making him unconscious as well.
After that, she proceeded to gather the five of them together before binding them with power suppression seals.
Then, she used teleportation magic to quickly go back to her mansion, taking her five attackers along with her.
She also dispersed the barrier around the park and the spell she had cast at the start of the fight just before teleporting away.
Silence enveloped the park for a few seconds, until suddenly, Meliodas appeared in the air above the place from where Cleria teleported out of the park.
"Well, well, well. She did much better than I had expected her to." He remarked.
"…"
Feeling Aurora sulking, Meliodas rolled his eyes, "You are still upset at me for not letting you report about anything related to Cleria's progress?"
"It's just your imagination."
"Now you are just copying Raphael/Ciel."
"Pot calling kettle black."
"…"
"Hehehe~!"
"Anyway, you know that I just wanted to see Cleria's progress with my own eyes. So stop sulking about such a small matter." Meliodas said in an attempt to bring the conversation back to the matter at hand.
"But, it isn't a small matter. One of the most important reasons Boss created Aurora was to gather and report information about various things. If Boss doesn't let her do her job, Aurora feels useless."
Sigh—!
Letting out a sigh, Meliodas rubbed his temples as he understood where the problem lay.
He responded, "I am sorry for making you feel that way, Aurora. But, you should know how important a part of my life you have become.
"Your importance to me isn't dependent on how useful you are and I would never discard you if one day you didn't have anything to do for me."
"…"
After being silent for a few seconds, Aurora responded in a low voice.
"Alright, I understand."
Meliodas didn't let go of the chance to elevate the mood, "You slipped up, Aurora."
"What..? Oh, you big meanie! Hmph!"
"Hahahahaha~!"
He could feel her pouting harder as he laughed, but he didn't stop.
After a few moments, he calmed down, "Well, let's go and see the next part of the show."
Making that declaration, he disappeared and silence once again descended on the park.

[Human World, Japan, Kouh Town, Cleria's Mansion…]
Cleria teleported into the living room of her mansion and dumped her prisoners on the floor.
A frown appeared on her face as she completed the action. She felt like she passed through some unfamiliar barriers while teleporting in.
Using the connection she had with the protection around her mansion, she proceeded to check the situation.
In a few seconds, she found out that the barriers had been breached from the back. They were not broken through brute force, there was just a big hole in the back area.
Either there was a highly competent magician among the intruders or someone from her side had betrayed her.
That thought stung her and she dearly hoped that it wouldn't come out to be true.
The back area was also where her Peerage was fighting against the intruders. And they couldn't hold on for much longer.
Banishing the unnecessary thoughts, Cleria took full control over the barriers and restored them to their full strength while also making sure that only she had any control over them from then on.
This way, no one could come in or go out without her permission.
Then, she extended her senses beyond the barriers around her mansion, only to come across another layer of barriers that shouldn't be there.
She summoned her magic circle and used the downgraded version of Kankara Formula, to understand the situation better.
She didn't want to do so if the situation wasn't so dire.
After all, the mental fatigue she experienced from casting a domain-type, downgraded Kankara Formula spell at the start of her previous battle to use her Worthless efficiently wasn't something she could easily shake off.
Anyway, now that she used that spell, she easily understood what and how things have progressed to the current stage.
The good news was that there was nobody on par with Lord Bael's Queen among these attackers and the bad news was that someone had indeed betrayed her.
However, now wasn't the time to delve into that as she was very close to kneeling over in exhaustion. She resisted the urge to give in to her exhaustion.
Otherwise, the consequences of her failure to solve this problem would not only bring death to her and her Peerage, it may even cause trouble for her family and Diehauser.
She renewed her determination to avoid such an outcome at any cost as she made her next move, ignoring her exhaustion for now.
Cleria canceled the spell before seizing the Queen of Lord Bael by the back of his neck and teleported to the back of her mansion.
"Stop!!"
She shouted after appearing behind her Peerage Members, her Devil wings unfurling from her back to keep her in the air.
Hearing her voice, her Peerage Members visibly perked up and glanced back, though not before making sure that the opponents did listen to their King's command.
Once everyone's attention was on her, Cleria shoved the unconscious form of Lord Bael's Queen towards the intruders.
"If you don't surrender, I will first blast the head of your leader to pieces before doing the same to all of you. Make your choice."
As she finished her declaration, a magic circle appeared at the back of her hostage.
To further intimidate the attackers, she unleashed her aura, pressuring them to go along with her demand and surrender.
A few seconds of tense silence passed.
Seeing that no one was making a move, Cleria put some power in her magic circle, making it glow brighter.
This finally persuaded one of the attackers on the ground to quickly raise their hands and kneel, triggering a chain reaction where the others followed suit and surrendered as well.
However, one of them remained stubborn and idiotic as he summoned a magic circle to attack Cleria when she was watching the others.
Without even looking at the fool, she controlled her already summoned magic circle to shift slightly to the side, releasing a bolt of lightning from it.
The fool only had the chance to widen his eyes before the lightning passed through him, breaking his magic circle and creating a gaping hole in his chest.
All of the attackers shuffled back in fear as the corpse fell from the sky.
Then, Cleria ordered her Peerage Members, "Seal their powers and lock them in the dungeon. I will deal with them in a while."
" " " "Yes, My Lady!" " " "
As her Peerage Members proceeded to complete her orders, Cleria dumped her hostage on the ground before stepping toward them silently.
She easily snuck behind one of her Peerage Members and knocked them out.
The others were shocked by her actions, however, Cleria couldn't hold on for much longer.
So, she disappeared after issuing one last order to her Queen, "Milly, lock him in a separate cell. Also, there are four more prisoners in the living room. Take care of them too."
