Interlude - Panacea's Long Night

"Sooo… Who was that?"

Amy turned to give her sister the stink-eye, "It's not like that. Halcyon is a new cape, and he can heal too, he was just giving me a ride back from the hospital."

"Oh really?" she asked with a smile as she pulled her phone out of her pocket, "Thas not what I heard."

Amy's eyes grew wide as she looked at the photos on PHO, particularly the one that showed Halcyon and Amy deep in discussion. "That's not what it looks like! Halcyon was just telling me about his clinic."

Vicky nodded, "Yeah, I saw something about that. He's getting paid! How cool is that! And he's getting a lot of money too. Dean said that he heard from his uncle that Halcyon bought out a lot of old houses near his clinic!"

Amy seemed confused, "You don't think it's bad that Halcyon's getting paid?"

"I mean, I dunno. He's apparently going around and helping people after he's done with his healing, and he isn't asking for payment for that, and I've seen your rounds at the hospital, I don't want to deal with that. That old guy was disgusting!"

"Yeah, it's not all fun and games."

She shrugged, "So yeah, I don't think he's a bad guy. Plus, the Wards get paid! If I got paid for hero work, then maybe I could those shoes I wanted! Or maybe even a car!."

"Most of that goes into a trust fund, you know."

"Yeah, but they still get paid! For patrols! I still have to beg mom for money if I want to go shopping, but Dennis bought Christie concert tickets back when they were dating! I wanted to go to that concert too!"

Amy sighed as she pushed her way into the house. Her mind abuzz with thoughts.

She fell into bed and laid back. Grabbing her phone and looking up Halcyon.

He was a new cape, so not a lot was known about him, but he could heal people, and he could apparently fly, so people thought that his power was some sort of biologically-focused telekinesis that he used to heal people.

Amy disagreed. From what she saw in those people she healed, Halcyon's power was a lot more like hers. He could change DNA.

From what she could tell, he could heal himself too, but he was slower. She could see ways to improve his healing. But he was learning. That much was obvious, even just with a few of his patients.

A thought forced its way into her mind, of her showing him how to make some of the things she had thought of making since all of this started, like the time she wanted to make a wolf she could ride.

Something about the thought drew her in, that she she might have someone else like her out there.
