The silver monkey did not attack them right away, instead, it just stood there while looking at the two and whenever they made a little sound, the silver monkey would instantly bear its fangs at them.
They were in this position for a long time with no one attacking or defending, and it was already getting dark.
"What are we going to do now Jason?" Noah asked Jason in a low voice so that the silver monkey wouldn't hear them.
"I have no idea. If we should move a finger, it would surely attack us and if we just stay like this, only God knows how long it's going to take before it will leave, but I believe by then, we won't be able to make it to the other side" replied Jason as he continued to stare at the monkey.
"We have to think of something really fast, Jason, if we don't want to fail the first trial and be reborn" said Noah, as he drew close to Jason.
"But what can we do, Noah? This monkey is way too big for us to attack. Making a move at it is actually a bad idea, how I wish the elderly people were around, they might be able to do something" replied Jason.
"What if we make a run for it? I doubt it would be able to catch up with us given its size" Noah suggested.
Jason decided to observe for a little while before finally speaking with a conflicted look on his face.
"Even though we may be able to outrun it given its size, it would depend if there were no trees around, but the situation here is different, and I believe you were knowledgeable enough to know that monkeys are good climbers, so running away is a waste of time" replied Jason with a disappointed look on his face.
Noah was also discouraged after he was reminded about monkeys with their ability to run on trees and decided to give up as he sat on the ground with his head resting on his hand.
"What are you doing?" asked Jason when seeing him like this.
"I'm just going to sit here and wait for it to eat me or is there another option for us" replied Noah, without even raising his head.
"First of all, I don't think it's interested in our flesh, else it would have attacked us long ago, and let's not forget what that person said, we can't be killed here" said Jason, who was on the verge of laughing but knowing the situation he was in, he could only hold it in.
Meanwhile, the silver monkey was just looking at them as they continued to communicate and, although it did not know what they were talking about, it still could not stop staring with its big eyes. Now that he is reminded that monkeys don't eat humans, and they can't die unless they sustain serious damage, Noah once again regains himself.
"Since we can't be killed or eaten, then what are we waiting for here? We should think of a way to ditch the monkey and make it to the other side" said Noah, as he urged Jason.
"This monkey is not stupid enough for us to ditch it, so can you quit whatever plan you have right now" replied Jason with a frown.
"Just hear what I have in mind first before you jump to conclusions" said Noah with a sigh.
Hearing that he has a plan on how they are going to escape the monkey, Jason decides to give him a listening ear.
"We should be able to outrun the monkey for a long time if we manage to blind it temporarily" Noah suggested, after seeing that Jason was willing to listen to what he had to say.
Jason went silent as he ran the plan simultaneously in his head and after some time, he decided to give him a reply.
"Your plan is not half bad, but that would all depend on whether we'll be able to make it lose its sight".
"That shouldn't be a problem either, just take a look at where we are sitting" said Noah with a smile as he moved his gaze to the ground that was covered with some kind of purple substance.
"I don't know what this is, but it could be used in place of sand to blind it temporarily" replies Jason as he packs a handful of the purple substance before putting it on the ground.
When it saw Jason's hand move, the silver monkey let out a light roar to threaten him, and it actually worked as Jason quickly let go of the substance. The roar also gets to Noah as he trembles in fear before turning to face Jason.
"Are you sure about this? I mean there is no turning back once we begin?" asked Jason with determination in his face.
Noah only nodded his head before keeping his shield and aiming himself with his sword while waiting for Jason to make preparations. Seeing that he was ready, Jason also kept his shield before picking up his staff while packing a handful of the purple substance.
The silver monkey let out a roar to frighten them, but this time around, it didn't seem to work, as they both had made up their minds. Seeing that its roar was not effective, the silver monkey decided to attack them, but that was what they had been looking for all this while.
With the silver monkey getting closer to them, Jason turned to Noah and instructed him to wait for his signal, since this was the only chance they had of escaping the monkey and if they should fail, then they could forget about the trial and prepare for what was to come next.
Jason was trembling in fear but still stood strong as he stared at the monkey which happened to have a crazy look on its face with its yellowish teeth baring at them. The more they looked at the silver monkey the scarier they got as they waited for the right time to attack the silver monkey.
